I'm no newbie, but I'm having the dickens of a time trying to customize the information boxes on my homepage. I've typed the code in, saved it and it doesn't show up when I re-paginate. Is it me? I even tried doing it in Dreamweaver then pasting. Wassup? Smiling

I was just in the Cubits.org cubit (this one) a few minutes ago and made changes to these things without any trouble.

Are you getting an error message of any kind?

Keep in mind that you can't use HTML codes (you mentioned Dreamweaver, which I believe is a html editor?)

I used it as a last resort after using the specified codes.
I basically want to make the title bold and center and the copy and photo insert on the page.

I'm not getting an error message. It's just that when I finish the coding and save, the changes don't appear.
Thanks Dave.

PAY ATTENTION LIZ!!!!
The code uses brackets, not parenthesis...
Geez...

Sorry to bother you, Dave.

One more question...
How do I embed YouTube videos? Can I use the embed code or just the main link?
I'd like the video to appear on the page.
Thanks.

How about playing background music?

I tip my hat to you.

You might want to add that little factoid to the BB code guide. :)

...and how about the background music?

I must be drunk. How'd that get over there?
This is what happens when you're defrosting refrigerators, hanging curtain rods and building Cubits - all at the same time.
Thank goodness I'm not nursing a litter of kittens too...

When you asked the question it was a new topic so I split it off into a new thread.

Here at cubits we can split threads. :)

old thread, but it seemed to have the "right" title for my question...

Is there a BB code for embedding a photo in the info box at the top of the forum page?

I know the "thumbnail" shows up there, but it's pretty small... I'd love to have something a bit bigger, especially if I can left-justify the image (so the photo is on the left, text wrapping to right).

I vaguely remember how to do this in html, old-style, from when the DG articles began and we had to do "fancy" things in the html view... but I have no clue how to use BB to accomplish this.

There's no rush about this, it's just a nice thing I'd like to add, and it's bugging me that I can't figure it out.

Thanks!

and OF COURSE nearly as soon as I posted this, I figured out how to get the image into the info box with BB code [ img] hyperlink to image [ /img]

I even found out that I should be able to use formatting codes that look similar to html codes, by putting them right after the "img" inside the first set of square brackets. But I could not get this to work.

I tried using [ img align="left"] hyperlink to image [ /img] and got nothing. (without the spaces) I tried setting height and width instead (as in the example I found), and still got nothing... instead of the photo appearing without text wrapping, I got my line of BB code...

So how do I align the photo (and wrap the text to one side or the other)?

Jill, you can wrap text in an article but not in the info boxes. To achieve that you would need to make the text part of the image using a photo program and then insert the image with text included into the box.

Thanks, Zany, I knew there had to be a way -- or a workaround!

I really appreciate your help.

Now if I can just figure out how to use layers in my photo program... !!

I've got the photo plus text image I needed now, and it looks nice. I tip my hat to you.
