Dave and I are in and out this weekend- mostly out. His Dad has come to visit.
However, we wanted to open up the discussion about adding in the commerce module on Cubits. Dave is ready to work on it starting next week.
If you are planning to sell your wares on cubits, we'd love to have a beginning of a headcount.
Also, if you would like to sell, we'd like you to be on the testing/feedback team so we can make this the BEST!
Our goal is to have this feature fully in place with all of the kinks worked out before holiday shopping begins, so the sooner we get started, the better we'll be.
I'm excited!!!

You have my full support. I don't have anything to sell except we have a forum for people to sell their cookbooks. Is that enough to include Yum for now?

If you want to sell, you have to have a cubit. The commerce module will hook into each person's cubit. Don't let that scare you, though!! It is completely fine if the only part of the cubit you use is the commerce part.
Arlene- we can discuss why that won't work out later, but the short answer is, no. For this, the selling would be the YumYum Divas selling their own stuff.
If you intend to be selling, and would use this module, please be thinking of features that you would like to see, etc. We'd like to jump in as quick with both feet!

So this would be like the cubit owners selling their own merchandise, not stuff from members, have I got that right?

Then I will sell my cookbooks; they are just gathering dust. That's the only thing I have to sell right now. Dea will come up with other ideas of things to sell.
Is that enough for me to be in on the project?

I have sources for wholesale purchase that I used during the 8 years of the cooking school. That has been in the back of my mind. I'll have to run it by Dea and she is MIA for a bit.

Each seller will have to set up their own "store"- which is housed within their own cubit. There will be a central browsing place to see all the items for sale.
Think about how etsy or the ebay stores are set up. Each seller maintains their own store, but are part of the larger entity. Make sense? Our goal is to give each seller ultimate control over their own store.
Arlene- if you sell your own cookbooks, you'll either need to set up a separate cubit for that, or split the revenue with Dea (or come up with some sort of agreement with her). That's what co-owning is: sharing all the revenue made from the cubit. I would think that you are selling your cookbooks as a person, not as the YumYum business. Think how messy end of year reporting would be if you don't keep personal and business separate from each other. Advertising your cookbooks on Yum would be another idea, but let's tackle this thing one thing at a time.
Of course, as always, you are free to sell on Cubits with no fees not using Dave's system- that's not going to change.

I think there is more than enough room for both.
I plan to sell my knitted and sewing items on cubits. I'll set up a store on my cubit. When I have wares to sell, the store will be open, otherwise, it won't be visible. Perhaps my return customers will only browse through my store, but new customers will wander through the larger mall (of sorts) where they can browse through all of the stores offering handmade goods.
Or, you can browse through all of the plants currently being offered.
Or only zero in on the Semps from ValleyLyn.
Or perhaps you'd like to set up a fleamarket store of sorts- that's great too.
Perhaps members of your cubit (MAM) would like to donate a bunch of items to sell off for a charitable cause. That's great too.
Sky is the limit, I think!
