I have edited this post.

I decided not to wait any longer and deleted the thread with the spam and banned the spamer from my cubit.

It is my first, so glad that we have easy control to ban such persons on our own!

I'm a little late to the party. I have not yet had that challenge. Glad it works so well.

What does spam look like? Is it easy to know when something is spam?

Lynn- It's almost always someone asking to sell you something from someone that you've never heard of.

When you get a Cmail that sounds something like that, go to their member page. If they signed up recently, it is real likely to be spam.

Spam is usually a post containing links to another site (usually something that has no relevance to the forum it is posted to) that is posted by someone who joined cubits just for that post. They are trying to increase traffic to other sites by adding links. The more links back to a site the higher that sites ranking is in the search engines.

Many of those links also go to phishing sites.

My motto is... If in doubt boot them out.

Good point, Zany. I was just addressing C-mail spam, but there are plenty of forum spam as well!

Thank you all. So far so good. That is a very clear definition of what spam is. Smiling
