Attention: anybody using smilies from planetsmilies: you are opening your users up to potential malware. Moreover, you are causing some computers to get a warning that visiting your cubit may harm their computer.

The Buglife cubit, for example, has two little smily icons in the front page info box. Those smilies are embedded off planetsmilies. Thus, the following message is shown for certain people visiting that cubit:

You are all advised to embed images only from trusted sites! I recommend discontinuing the use of planetsmilies altogether asap!

Very good, Janet. Once the smilies are removed, it may take several days for the anti-virus software to update their list that your site is clean.

I know others are using these smilies from that site, too. Take heed everyone!

Smilies removed!

I was wondering if I was the only one to use them, such a shame as I liked my little spider and bee! Rolling on the floor laughing

Which sites are trusted? Big Grin

The problem with embedding images from another site is that you can never know that they will be trusted in the future.

"In God we trust. All others pay cash". :)

You could download those smilies and upload them into the Files area and embed them yourself. Zanymuse does a lot of this kind of stuff and I bet she could help with this.

Thanks Dave, I will see what I can do later and if I have trouble I'll go running to Zany.

I assume the site in now clean after removing the smilies? Is it just the delay in the software updating the list if it still shows as malware?

Yes, the cubit should be clean if all the smilies are gone. The delay in the malware link: yes, they probably will not immediately know that the site is now clean.
Clusiana is the one who got the error, and she'll surely let us know when she sees the error is gone.

Oh! I thought Dave had blocked outside emoticons! I haven't created anymore because to use them here they have to be added as a lightbox. That doesn't work Whistling

Dave, are you saying that if I create safe, original, icons and add them to my files, there is a bb code we can use to make them work here without your having to add them to the bottom line up?

Dave had blocked outside emoticons for forums Zany, but we could use them in our info boxes. The same would go for any links added to the info boxes.

My Planet Smilies had been there since the beginning, no problems until now.

Janet's right, they are blocked in the forums but you can certainly use the [img] tag in your cubit infoboxes.

So if you upload a gif to your files, you can then subsequently reference them using [img ]/path/to/file.gif[ /img ]

and that would do it.
