The clean-up has begin. it seems that this year I am starting earlier, than last year. The hybridizing area has not suffered any damage from the winter to this point, which makes it more difficult to clean the pots in the hib.

This is the progress so far and I will continue until I have the area ready for my fertilizing, and pest control programs......

Your hybridizing area is a beautiful sight on this cold, dark and wet winter day.

Thanks Julia!

Our temps have been at times 10 deg above the norm. Next week temps will be in the 70's, and I am taking advantage of the nice weather incase we get a freak cold snap.

Lucky you! It's cold here but love all the sun during the day. To bad the ground is frozen. Seems like the rest of the country is bracing for a cold blast.

It looks like the Southeast is also getting hit hard by this cold front...I will just be content with upper 60's mid 70's.

Caring for daylilies in a warm winter climate has it's pros, and cons. The pots in my hybridizing are will need to have the foliage on the daylilies trimmed back, so the plants can be watered and feed without the water being shed by the leaves blocking the surface of the pots.

Pots can now be watered, and treated for any unwanted insects. This process is usually completed by the end of January....

As I was cleaning my pots, I came across my first variegated seedling, this seedling will bloom this year, and it is across of Infinity & Beyond x Judge Nancy.

It will be interesting to watch the progress of this seedling.

Note: Only one side of the fan is variegated.

I have another leaf coming out, if it is variegated, then it may hold. If it has a nice bloom it would be worth keeping one more season.

The variegated seedling is still putting on variegated foliage, but now some the leaves are solid green. I'm still watching it.

I am so envious right now Drooling Your garden is looking great. If we will ever stop getting these really cold nights (down in the mid 30s again) we may actually have things bloom around here. We have lots of green foliage everywhere but very few scapes. Oh well, we will have a very late season.

Michele, I hope you don't have an early summer it would seem that will cause problems with hybridizing. I am concerned with the weather this season, we are back and forth with 90's and 80's, the temp very so much I think the plants are confused.
