| We bought our place in June of 2002. It was covered with beautiful pine, & oak trees, it was also covered with wicked vines with thorns ,some vines so thick Tarzan could have used them; I had enough cleared space (where they had cleared the right of way for the water lines) to just set a mobile home the rest looked like this ![]() We set the trailer and left the same day for 2 years, 2 more jobs before we retired. when we got home in 2004 the fun started first we cleared a few areas and desided where the house & shop should go Shop first A man/woman has to have their shop .. Down the road to the shop we go ![]() check out my new store Metamorphosis Upcycled/Recycled Glass http://www.facebook.com/MetamorphosisUpcycledRectcledGlass?v... , http://cubits.org/diycomfortheserious/thread/view/35215/#new... |

| Your home is going to be absolutely wonderful Cheryl! Are you using preexisting plans/blueprints or did you design your own? |
|
|||
| Hi Cheryl, what an absolutely superb project this is, It's going to be both educational and enjoyable for us to follow it's progress through to completion. I love the wooded location and the style of the building. Good question there from Chelle. who's the designer/architect? Jon |

| Oh! this just gets better and better, your DH is a whole lot more than smart, he's brilliant! DIY is about solving a tonne of problems, solving the how to do this by myself is one of the biggest, my hat is off to a true DIY trouper! Jon |

| before the roof went on we got some rain well I found a few low spots in the concrete and im not a very happy camper one big dip in my glass shop . but oh well ill just plan for a work table over it . the other was that the carport slap drained the wrong way ( the only thing we didnt do was pour & finish the concrete) DH tried to convince me it really didn't drain wrong it would be ok ![]() then the roof was finished and the carport still flooded good thing the slab for the shop & storage is 3" higher the the carport ![]() not much we can do to fix this , short of digging it all out and starting over (Not going to Happen) But we will have gutters for rain collection and that should stop it. check out my new store Metamorphosis Upcycled/Recycled Glass http://www.facebook.com/MetamorphosisUpcycledRectcledGlass?v... , http://cubits.org/diycomfortheserious/thread/view/35215/#new... |

| Cheryl - What an amazing job you are doing! You know what? There is always something that isn't perfect. The rain gutters should eliminate the flood problem and it will all be okay when it is completely done! I am just blown away by someone actually building their own home from the ground up! Only in my dreams would I ever attempt something so huge! My hat is off to you and your dh! I look forward to seeing more. Sorry that your dial-up is so slow! Ugh! We appreciate you nodding off uploading your pictures for us to see! Thank you for sharing them with us! Another Day in Paradise! |
