I've been showing Afghan hounds since the mid 70's. Currently I show in AKC and UKC conformation. I also go to lure coursing, both AKC and ASFA (American Sighthound Field Assoc). I've done some training in obedience and rally, but so far haven't shown in those with my current 'kids'.

This is Willow,

DC Top Flite Blue Willow Elite SC FCh

She finished her AKC conformation Championship in only 3 weekends, and finished with 3 majors. Her AKC coursing title she earned in 3 trials with 3 five point majors. She completed her ASFA FCh title quickly, and finished at #3 afghan in coursing in the US for the year.

We've been though a basic obedience class and a rally class, but need a bit of work before we try a trial.

CH. Summerstorm's Beneath My Wings SC

Wings was imported from Sweden as a pup. He just finished his CH. title at the age of 7. At 2 years old he came down with pancreatitis. We almost lost him, and it was a long recovery time. He lost all his coat, and it took quite a while before it was good enough for him to compete in the breed ring.
He earned his SC (senior courser) title, but was not really focused enough to really compete in lure coursing.

Lazaan's Bewitched

Sammi, is a sister to Willow, from a repeat breeding. She has points toward her championship, but a broken leg, as a pup, ended up hurting her movement enough that she was not able to get the major wins necessary to finish.

Elmo's Bad Moon Rising JC

Trouble came to us as a 2 year old. Never shown in conformation, he is only a few points away from finishing his ASFA Field CH title.

Ch Elmo's Egyptian Star JC

Hayley is a one of a kind dog. If she wants something bad enough, she will get it! So far she has learned to open the kitchen cabinets, not just the lower ones, but the upper ones, too, and is tall enough to reach most of the things on the bottom shelf with her foot, and pull them out. She has also learned to open the fridge. Thank God for childproof locks, she hasn't figured those out yet! She also knows how to turn on both the kitchen and bathroom sinks, and has managed to flood the kitchen once!

Hayley finished her CH title easily, I even put a major on her myself!! (Usually my good friend shows for me). She earned her JC title easily, but when trying for a field CH, she thought it was more fun to play with the other dogs on the field, than chase the lure. Needless to say, the other dogs' owners weren't too happy with us. If she ever grows up, we'll try again!

Our upcoming stars: These babies were born last May. Mom is Hayley, dad is Wings. They are so much more than we ever hoped for!

Tyler Windigo On A Wing And A Prayer He's only been shown one weekend, and placed in his class.

Sissy Windigo On The Wings Of Love She's only been shown in UKC shows, but has a breed win and group 1st.

Their brother Cheyenne, Windigo's Cheyenne Warrior, is pointed, and a Breed Winner over specials at only 8 months at AKC shows! Cheyenne is also close to finishing his UKC champion title.

Absolutely gorgeous Deb! Never have done luring, but have been to several meets - they're so exciting to watch.

I always felt that the dogs put up with conformation showing for me, I take them lure coursing because they love it. And, it really is a joy to watch them run. Though some of the days on the coursing field can be long, and cold! Most of the trials here are early spring, or late fall, which is better for the dogs, we don't want them to overheat. But huddling under tarps, and racing back to the car to run the heater to thaw out can be trying! We've coursed in snow (they use black plastic for the lures), and had to break ice on frozen water bowls, but it doesn't bother the dogs in the least!

This is one of the rarer summer trials. The International Invitational from a few years ago.

Thanks Mike. We really enjoy running them, they love to run, and they always seem to know when we are going to the coursing field!!
