PayPal is closely tied in with using eBay, and most sellers choose to accept it. Do you use it (either as a buyer or a seller)? What do you like/dislike about it?

I like it because it's easy, quick and secure and offers a buyer an additional level of protection against financial loss. Smiling

I generally like it, too, but I've mostly been on the buyer side. I like that you don't have to mail checks, wait, cash checks, wait for them to clear, etc. As a buyer I like that the seller doesn't get to view your banking information or credit card number. Also, it's a way for buyers to use a credit card to buy from an individual small seller who couldn't otherwise accept credit card payments.

As a seller, I like that Paypal takes some steps to verify the customer info & address. There's no problem with slow mail or lost checks, or bounced checks. Luckily, I've not experienced it, but some sellers have complained that the buyer protection system is abused, and sellers sometimes lose out unfairly to unscrupulous buyers working the system.

Also, I've seen problems (on co-ops) where Paypal will freeze an account due to what they think is unusual/possibly suspicious activity. While that sounds like a good thing, sometimes it is perfectly legitimate activity, and the seller now has no access to their money.

I've heard those stories too Red, not just on co-ops either. I did read a while back that PayPal has now embraced an ask questions first before freezing accounts policy.

re: freezing accounts

I have noticed that a lot of credit card companies are doing that now. I work in a busy gas station on a major cross-country highway and I've had people come in and fill up with gas...try to pay with their credit card and find they can't because they forgot to tell the cc company that they'd be traveling and their account has been suspended.

Makes for some very anxious and angry customers....most of which don't think that the cc companies should be able to do that.
