Rumors circulated all around that gold was plentiful in Georgia. The problem was that the land was occupied by the Cherokee Indians. Papers were filed and petitions in acted to remove the Cherokee from the land. In 1838, General Scott and the United States Army invaded the Cherokee Nation. |
