| Some of the most common EO's and what they are good for: Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia): sweet, floral herbaceous refreshing odour with antiseptic qualities. The most popular and versatile oil in aromatherapy. Excellent for the skin, relaxing & calming. Can be used in the bath, massage, skin care, diffuser etc. non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitising. Lemon (Citrus limon): light, fresh and sweet odour like the ripe peel with antimicrobial qualities. Good for problem skin, toning and invigorating. A breath of fresh air. Can be used in skin care, diffuser & bath, non-toxic, non-irritant but is phototoxic, so do not use on skin prior to sun exposure. Orange, Sweet (Citrus sinensis): sweet, fresh citrus odour like the peel with antiseptic and antidepressant qualites. Good for soothing dry, irritated or acne-prone skin and aging skin. Is non-toxic, non-sensitising and can be used in massage, diffuser and skin care. Eucalyptus (E.globulus): refreshing, slightly camphoraceous but typical eucalyptus smell. Good as insect repellant and beneficial for the onset of fever, flu, colds etc. Is generally considered to be non-toxic and a non-irritant but must always be added to a base before being applied to skin. Can be used in diffuser, skin care and massage. Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia): warm spicy aromatic odour. Good for diffusing when battling with aches and pains, can be used in bath also. Is a strong stimulant for our immune system an is antimicrobial. Is non-toxic , non-irritant but possibly sensitising to some individuals. Peppermint (Mentha x piperita): fresh, strong grassy/minty smell. Good for muscle pain, headaches and digestion. Is non-toxic, non-irritant but occasionally by be sensitising. Excellent for diffuser, massage and skin care. Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens): green leafy-rose scent. Great for nervous tension, depression, anxiety etc. Valuable in skin care with its balancing effect on the sebum and can be used in diffuser, bath and massage. Is non-toxic and non-irritant. Storage of Essential Oils EO's should always be kept in dark glass bottles at all times in a cool environment out of sunlight. Perferably in a dark cupboard. Always remember to not touch the dropper on the bottle to keep it free from contamination and to always check to see if it is safe to put directly onto the skin due to the fact that some oils can cause a negative reaction.
