Does anyone know a recipe to keep ticks from going on you? The news is saying that Lyme Ticks are showing up here in the southern part of Manitoba.

Hello Donna!

Thanks for checking out my cubit. I do have a recipe for ticks but I have not actually tried it myself but have been told it is extremely effective.
This is it:
Make up a synergistic blend of 10 drops lavender, 10 thyme and 10 eucalyptus in a small bottle

What you can do with that is few things. Before you go outside you can put approx. 8 drops of the above recipe in bowl of water and wash your exposed areas with the blend. Or you could add the drops to a small spray bottle of water and spritz yourself. I think I would prefer the latter because then I would also spray my clothing at the same time.
I would take the time to make the above blend and have it ready for when I need it. The oils are always much more effective when they are put into a synergistic blend because they are able to work with another and become even more powerful than when alone.
Also remember that if you do notice a tick with its swollen body attached to your skin, never pull it out. Evidently you can put a drop of thyme oil onto it and it will fall off and then follow with one drop of lavender every five minutes up to a total of ten to avoid infection and it will reduce the pain and swelling.

I hope this helps and let me know how it works,

Sylvia*

Thanks for the info, Sylvia! So with this one you don't need to mix the EO's with distilled water or witch hazel?

Yes, if you choose to add it to a spray bottle, I would use distilled water and add the synergistic blend to that. Or if you prefer you could use witch hazel.
