We have Horse and Pony riding stables near us, they have a sign outside saying bring your own bags and shovels, manure free! So If you do not mind shoveling it and putting it in your car, you can have as much as well rotted manure as you want! What could be better than that, full of worms, smells lovely and the plants adore it, especially the vegetables. Any left goes in the compost bins, with kitchen and garden waste. The heat it produces makes a luscious mulch for the garden in the spring! Regards. Neil.

What a lovely garden Neil! Thanks for sharing this tip too. We don't have many stables around here, but I'm sure in some parts of the country there are stables where folks can take advantage of this advice. Janet

I like horse manure, but one year I got so much hay in it that I now have grasses growing rampant where I spread it. So make sure your manure is well rotted.

I'm not Hetty, but I'm curious what you mean by: "it comes from Dulwich so is well rotted!" BTW - beautiful garden Neil!
