Welcome to the discussion area for "The Gathering Place" website. Please visit my site and come back here and give me your thoughts. http://thegatheringplacehome.com

What you think about it?
How do you think I might improve it?
What do you think might be nice additions to the site?
How do you think I could get inexpensive or free publicity for it?

In other words, I would like your input. I might not be able to use many or any of the suggestions for various reasons but I would love to get your opinions anyway. It is a free site for me so all of the ads are necessary and can't be controlled. It is the "price I pay" for using the site. I don't have a lot of money to put into publicity so it will be necessary for it to not be expensive for me. I already make my own cards to hand out to folks and I have bought one ad at Baptist 1000 but that is the extent of the money I can reasonably put into it except for really small amounts.

I really hope to get some good responses in this thread so please let me know what you think.

Well.... you rock too my friend. I have just left there and you have posted some awesome things. I am impressed. I didn't reply to everything as you, Mary, Starr, Cajun and Sharon know since I don't want my name always appearing as the last poster and would much rather people see the name of the original poster instead of mine all the time. You, Mary, Cajun and Starr have really been posting a lot and I am so thankful and grateful to you for that. Many thanks as always to you all.

I love it just the way it is; I know I don't post but I appreciate what you do here. Part of it is how busy I am with my life away from the computer and then the busyness of YumYum. It is so much more than I expected I was getting into and I don't have the time to put into it. It will just have to carry itself.

Arlene, I know the feeling. I have tried to keep up with things at DG, here at Cubits in some other people's cubits, and TGP and it is getting to be a real chore trying to keep it from stealing my day whenever I am online. I owe TGP the most of my time because it is what I do for the Lord so everything else has to take second place. I am glad to know that you visit us there. Maybe someday when you are not overburdened, you will feel up to posting something. That would be nice but purely voluntary on your part. No pressure whatsoever!!!!! I dearly love your cubit. I go over there a lot. Keep up the good work.

Yes, we have to keep our priorities in order. We are so pleased you like Yum and as time permits I'll be over to yours.

Also, with gardening season fast approaching, I expect to be on very little. I do have a helper this year so it should be a little easier on me physically.

Truthfully, during the summer, I rarely go on DG except for the recipe forum and the tomato forum. Summer is not the time to be in the house in front of your computer.

But, even in the summer, we still need our spiritual side fed and our mouths fed.

Today I attended an online virtual networking session. I posted links to quite a few cubits here including yours. I don't suppose we'll ever know if it worked; most people don't take a action until it has been put in their brain at least 3 times.

Have a lovely rest of the day.

Now to go do my "real" job.

finding joy one day at a time!
I hope one day I can spend more time at TGP but right now I am still working hard to build up my cubits. Just thought I'd stop by and say hi!

I am like you, Arlene, in the fact that outdoor time has got to be fitted into my daily schedule once the weather is good enough to be out there more. I need to be walking in the neighborhood for sure. I am always planning to walk but almost never do actually get out there and get the daily exercise I need. I would love to work up to an hour at least three days a week. We shall see and only time will tell if I can do more than talk about it.

I not only like Yum but I have borrowed some of your great recipes and put them in the recipe forum at TGP. Please feel free to take any of mine that you might want in the recipe forum at TGP. I think I told you that before however. I will put a link to your cubit in the recipe forum as soon as I leave here tonight. We gals need to stick together. Thumbs up I can even post some of mine at your cubit if you are weak in any catagory and would like me to do that. Thank you ever so much for posting our TGP link in the networking session. No, we never know what really works most of the time but I never stop trying to spread the word and finding new ways to do so. Smiling

Becky, you are welcome at TGP anytime you get the chance to get over there. I hope you will visit the CHRISTmas Forum for sure. I love your cubits also. You have really outdone yourself over there.

Good luck to both of you with your cubits. They are a lot of work but maybe we will learn some shortcuts eventually. It is my bedtime so I think I will wind down pretty soon but first I will go and put that link at the Recipe forum. Becky would you like me to link to your forums also? I would be happy to do that. Nighty night everyone.

Here is the link to your cubit Arlene. I put it in the Recipe forum in the thread for good recipe sites on the internet.

Becky, I will put yours in an appropriate place or places tomorrow. I am nodding off to sleep as I type so need to hit the hay now.

Goodnight all and sleep tight.

Thank you very much Elena, that is very kind of you. We certainly do have some weak categories and have taken a little different stance. For instance, I have started a pressure cooker forum - it is private right now as I build the content-I won't make it public until there is a lot of content.

People don't like to click on something when there is no content; I know it makes me walk away from a website. The other thing is activity; I was looking for a discussion forum on high definition tvs and came across one that hadn't been posted to in 6 months. Of course, I walked away.

So foot traffic and fresh content is always good. But Dave say the data base(which I am tediously working on) and the articles are the two most important to bring new people in. I don't have anyone at the moment writing food articles so I feel that is the weak part of YumYum. And right now, because there is nothing, a person could write on any food subject they wished.

Too many things . . not enough hours in the day.

We'll get there ; we're in this together.

I haven't used a pressure cooker in years. I would be most interested in viewing that forum. I hope you get that one going soon. The reason I have so much content in my recipes is because I have worked on it for over 6 years.

It won't be ready for a while. I am adding to it every time I use the pressure cooker. I am also working very hard on some safety tips. I don't want to encourage anyone to use one without being careful. Today's are much safer but there are some being sold that are not so safe.

Arlene, they are very dangerous if not used correctly. I used mine for years but when microwaves came along I drifted away from the cooker and toward the microwave. Smiling
I put the "Yum Yum Divas" information in the following forum.

I also added additional information to the post in the Recipes forum.
