|Today was cold all day. The weather fforecast said we would have 56 or some ridiculous figure. Ha! It was more like 36, rainy at times, snowing other times, and always with wind. I helped my neighbor get the barn ready for lambing, but we only got part of it done and 3 pens ready for newborns. He still has to finish pouring cement around those posts, got one done yesterday and could see how many more bags of sackrete he needs to finish the job. What we cleaned and straightened today is enough to get us started with the early arrivals. And not a minute too soon either.
We got the little trailer hooked to the 4 wheeler, fastened the top back on it because the trailer had another job this summer, and then while Paul got the hot fence up to make a lane for the sheep to go from their pasture to water and the barn, I went out with the lambmobile to check the flock. Surprise! I really didn't expect to find anything. The little guy was pretty nimble on his feet and already dry, so we are guessing he might have been born early this morning.
I did not volunteer to go check the flock tonight, but I see it coming soon, so I will enjoy sleeping whole nights while I can. Paul will tell me when he wants me to start.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
