This forum has been created for those who want to swap seeds with other gourd growers. If you have seeds you would like to swap with others post a request here. It is suggested that the cost of swapping be limited to postage only.

Good Luck and I hope to see some swapping going on so we can have Spring planting.

Sweetpea11:

It might take a few days before others stop by and see your post. In seed swapping patience is the key.

I will check with my Sis, Marti, in Calif and see if she has any seeds. If so I will tell her we need her to post here.

Marti in California has different size birdhouse gourd seeds and is happy to provide them to those who wish to grow them this Spring. You can C-mail her or go to A Gypsy Camp and Through the Garden Gate to leave her a message if she is not online. This is her site: http://cubits.org/CAMP/thread/view/63269/ and here is where you can c-mail her: http://cubits.org/users/profile/marti/

Is anyone still out there?
I'm interested in growing some gourds. I have too many scuppernong grape vines on my very large trellis, and they are a lot of work to keep at bay. The tendrils grow about a food a week and I can't walk near them without being poked in the eye. Do you think it will work to cut some of the vines to the ground (and dig a little, they are sure stubborn) and plant some gourd seeds in their place? I just have the space and would like to see them grow instead of the grapes.

Hi, MidAge --

I came across your post when I stopped in here looking for some info about drying and cleaning some gourds that I grew last year; there hasn't been much (if any) recent activity on this Cubit, unfortunately. You might be interested in checking out the Ella's Garden cubit

http://cubits.org/ellasgarden/

Ella has a big seed swap every fall, you can find info about that in the "Seed Trading" forum (there are a LOT of forums on Ella's cubit, just scroll down the page until you come to one you want); there's also an active chat thread in the "Cottage Gardening" forum, look for "Spring is Arriving!!"

Hope to see you there!! Smiling

Sandy
