I did not plant gourds last year but these little cuties came up volunteer. They looked like a cross with a zuccini and I didn't know if they would dry but finally I have one that has dried and the others are starting to dry also. The largest in this pics is the one that has dried and it is 4 inches tall. I have about 20 of them ...some as small as 3 inches..I think they are so cute.

Thanks for any help,

Rose

Wow...so you painted it to look like it did before it dried...very cool! Will all gourds dry eventually (if they don't rot first)? I will have to take some pics of the big ones I have grown. They are out in the barn and the cows broke in one day and destroyed a lot of them (little stinkers)!!

These little gourds are called Tn Dancing or Spinning gourds. They do dry and make nice ornaments for Christmas Trees.

Not these ones but I have done them with the spinner gourds that I do have....and I sold most all of them at my store here http://cubits.org/DMEnterprises/store/ which does not have any gourds so far...with my health I just have not had the energy and Marti had to get settled in Calif. before she could begin painting gourds....

I hope to have the store back up and merrily running by Spring. Plan on dropping by ....I will be making an announcement that it is open again.

Marti is returning to Ky and home in just about 2 weeks...I am so happy but also sad for the circumstances surrounding her return...it is bitter sweet.

Once she gets settled here we have a "truck" load of gourds to decorate...some we will paint, others decoupage with many mediums...I have a lot of stamps (thanks to my friends here on Cubits) and will use them on the gourds, also am going to make some gourd lamp/lantern that will knock your socks off... here is an example: Thumb of 2012-07-15/LaVonne/7deaa3 This is the work of a artist who lives in India...he gave me the idea and wished me well..with my endeavor. Then there is the "scarry ones"
Thumb of 2012-07-15/LaVonne/44c364 So see we are going to be very busy girls this fall and winter. Store might just be bursting at the seams... Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
