Auditions are beginning and Simon says there are new rules. It's interesting to see who from last season got signed. http://www.azcentral.com/thingstodo/music/articles/2012/02/1...

Wow! All six of those contestants got a Sony contract? What a great platform this show is turning out to be. But what happened to poor little Drew? Simon loved her so much.

So this is why Simon put together groups out of rejected singles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5UQD61Tg3E These boys were all contestants on UK X-Factor. This is where they were this morning. It's the Beatles redux. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2113904/British...

Such cute boys! Simon struck oil with this group. It's nice to see all of those young girls getting excited about bubble-gum music instead of rap.

Wow, can you imagine this show with Diana Ross? http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2012/03/x-factor-... I'd love to see that happen!

I've been wondering what the heck happened to Melanie. Not much as it turns out. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/earshot/x-factor-melanie-am...

That poor girl! That article is upsetting for so many reasons. Have they really done nothing for her other than putting her on a "strict regiment of exercise and monitored nutrition"? Regiment? The same stupid writer says Melanie has been "laying low." Doesn't anyone edit these articles?

Was Melanie fat? Does she really need to be slimmed down? Will we buy more of her songs if she's thin? Did no one notice that this girl received the highest number of votes? And that Josh was the runner-up? Is this an audience that cares deeply about physical appearance?

And etiquette? Is this 'My Fair Lady'? Was Melanie lacking in manners? Isn't it ironic that rude Simon Cowell and boorish LA Reid can decide that someone needs lessons in etiquette?

Speaking of etiquette, I wonder if they assigned a coach to the brat. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/x-factor-fox-astr... Of all the contestants, this one certainly could use some lessons in manners.

Melanie is (was?) a big girl and I'm sure her diet was not that great, given her culture. I wonder if there's a real reason - other than idiotic Hollywood 'standards' for beauty - behind the diet thing. Diabetes, maybe? Without an explanation, that article stands as one of the most misogynistic pieces I've read in a long time. As for editing, please... the 'editors' are no better educated than the writers. I can't believe the stuff I read in mainstream newspapers, let alone this fluff.

Astro is definitely the one who needed an etiquette coach. Chris is doing well, I follow him on Facebook, he's got another single out, and album due to be released, I believe. It's hard to get used to him with his new teeth, I liked him the way he was. I never really cared for Melanie.. the whole total and complete personality change really turned me off of her. I mean, I realize lapsing back into an accent occasionally, but I thought her whole "this is who I am" was just over the top. I always thought Chris was the most genuine, even if he wasn't the best singer... Josh was a good singer, but he's just lacking that wow factor for me, if that makes any sense.

I agree about Chris being the most genuine one. I'm glad to hear that he's doing well.

I'm beginning to think Melanie isn't going to have a record out - now or any time. People have very short attention spans and I'll bet even those who voted for her have all but forgotten about her. But here's the good news about one of my favorites on the show - Rachel. Talk about maturity! Read the interview. And I love her song. Bravo, Rachel; you have what it takes. http://blog.music.aol.com/2012/06/20/rachel-crow-mean-girls/

I'm very happy for Chris. He's a likeable guy, and I was so hopeful that his recovery would not crap out.

Sally, can you post a link to a Chris song? Or some news about him? I was a big fan, too, and I'm happy to hear that he's having some success.

Finally!! Melanie Amaro has a single out. The album is "still in production"! Really. If this is any indication of what's to come, it's a waste of a good voice. Redundant lyrics, two minutes too long and nothing to remember unless you just like the catch beat. What a shame.

It sounds a lot better, though, than most of today's hits, and dance music sells. If nothing else, this proves she isn't stuck in the ballad genre. What a beautiful voice she has!

The X Factor's Simone Battle has committed suicide. I didn't like her on the show, but I loved the video she released when she left the show: "He Likes Boys." There's a link to it in this thread:
