I still don't know when the season will start, but I do know that Nick Lachey, Ben Folds, and Shawn Stockman are returning. Jewel will replace Sara Bareilles on the judging panel.

I watched Platinum Hit, a competition for songwriters, when Jewel was a judge on that show. She's very tough and doesn't hold back on her criticism.

It premieres December 9th with 10 groups and will continue for seven episodes, up to the finale on December 23rd. I'm hoping Pentatonix will make a guest appearance.

Speaking of Pentatonix, I just saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ_MGWio-vc

Is my memory failing, or did they have just three members when they were on the show?

No, there were always five members, but Kirstie was blonde the last time we saw her. This probably is her natural color, though, because her last name's Maldonado, so her father (and maybe her mother) must be Mexican.

Well, hair color and numbers are two different things, so I must be getting old! Hilarious!

Yay, it's back! I loved it! Too early to have a favorite, but the Filipino boy band and the kids from Orlando were terrific.

I'm still watching because it's only 10:20 here, but I'm impressed once again by how much interest the judges take in all the members of each group. They know everyone's name and they address them by name instead of talking to "guy in the middle" the way Demi and Simon do on The X Factor.

Hey, everyone, it's on tonight! Two hours of great singing. There have been some teases about the show so it should be good.

I love this show. After watching all of the other competition shows, I'm always delighted that everyone on this show sings on key. Pitch is never a problem.

I was so sad to see Street Corner Renaissance get eliminated. I loved that group and wanted to see more of their performances.

You and me, too. It seemed unfair that they should be cut when they clearly are better than the winners (whoever they are; I've forgotten already). I love Ten. Proof positive that backup singers are often equal to or better than the 'star' of the show. The movie, 20 Steps from Stardom was all about those backup singers. Judith from last season's Voice was in that movie.

It sounds like a great movie, but we knew how great backup singers are when we first heard Melinda Doolittle sing on American Idol, didn't we?

Street Corner Renaissance lost to the Filharmonics. I like them too, so I wish they hadn't been competing against each other.

My favorite group so far is Home Free.

Can't remember Home Free at the moment. I think the backup singers are having more luck lately. Tessanne and Candice both sang backup, as did Blake's winner, from a couple seasons back.

Home Free is the country group of five guys. They sang Ring of Fire on the last show. Simon must have had something like this in mind when he created Restless Road. Too bad his group had to be backed up by backup singers. Hilarious!

Oh, I missed that episode! I like those guys. Really, I like 'em all; their all talented. The Princeton (?) group is my least favorite because they're frenetic most of the time and there are too many to watch.

Hooray! Pentatonix will be performing on the season finale. The three finalists are the best of the original 10 groups, in my opinion (Ten, Home Free, and Vocal Rush).

What a great finale and a great season in general! The thing I appreciated the most was the absence of public voting. All of the decisions were made by the judges, and all of the judges were completely trustworthy.

That was the best part. I would have been happy for any one of the finalists to win. It was a great season...And you are so right about the judges and the absence of public voting. That eliminated a popularity contest. Great show!!!!

I am so bummed; I thought it was in the queue to record and it wasn't. I missed the first half of the show - and Pentatonix! I have to say I was rooting for Ten but thought for sure that the country boys would win. They are fantastic. Hope they have as much success as Pentatonix has had.

They are all winners for sure. The exposure on the show should help all of them...

Unfortunately, it sounds as though season 5 will consist of only one 2-hour episode, airing December 17th, 2014 (in other words, today!)
