Some of you probably are already watching the premiere, but it hasn't started here yet. It's only 6:20 here. I'm really looking forward to these auditions, which are my favorite part of the season, but I'm not looking forward to seeing Gwen Stefani. Glare

I haven't seen anyone I love so far, but I have seen lots of people I like. Pharrell seems to be getting the best singers to join his team.

I think I missed the premiere, but probably saw most of it in a Sunday night recap. No one has blown me away yet. I've heard some good voices, but I've also been amazed at the hyperbole thrown to singers that I thought were mediocre.

I'm actually enjoying Gwen more than I did Christina, although Christina was pretty good the last time around. Gwen seems down to earth, earnest in her critiques and - best of all - isn't dressing like a fugitive from an alien world! Pharrell is a lot of fun and a sly fox at that.

My biggest problem with the show is its rigid scripting, totally predictable comments by contestants just before they take the stage and the excessive amount of fun-fighting among the coaches. I'd rather hear more contestants, even if they don't make the show.

The contestants' predictable comments are tedious and annoying, I agree.

I really liked the last singer last night. She had a lot in common with Tessanne. It would be interesting if another female reggae singer won again.

Gwen Stefani has some of Christina's irritating traits, but lacks Christina's talent. How many times has she compared herself to the young girls trying out (as many times as Christina did) and casually mentioned that she's been in the business since she was 17?

I had to laugh when one contestant said she only wanted to sing songs with meaningful lyrics and Gwen quickly agreed, saying she also insists on meaningful lyrics. Here are some of the lyrics of one of Gwen's songs, co-written by her and Pharrell.

This my shit, this my shit
This my shit, this my shit
This my shit, this my shit
This my shit, this my shit

Let me hear you say, this shit is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!
This shit is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!
Again this shit is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

Sad LOL, zuzu! However, you must admit, those lyrics work perfectly well for a 'music' audience of shallow, celebrity idolizing people who could not tell you who is President of the U.S., much less where Syria is or what ISIS is. It's discouraging.

I hate the way Gwen Stefani tries to win over the female contestants by telling them they need a makeover, which she will be happy to provide. It's so insulting!

She (Gwen) seems to be pretty limited and bland..maybe that's what is known as 'nice', but to me just seems lacking in somerthing. As far as her lyrics, i don't know...I've never heard any of her music. I do know that I like the reggae guy a lot and I'd hate to think of what other music she would have him doing. I'm glad that Pharrell (sp?) got him and made a point of saying he would have him doing reggae... Found it hard to be engaged with some of the old hat song choices made for a few of the battles. I miss Christina and Shakira......though I like quite a few of them a lot, only one truly gave me goosebumps...Luke Wade, think that was his name?

Luke Wade's good, but I still don't have a horse in this race.

Some of the songs that were chosen were ludicrous. Why did Gwen choose "Jolene" for the battle between a heterosexual guy and a lesbian? How could either of them sing "please don't take my man" with feeling?

She also chose that Destiny's Child song for Sugar Joans and Jean Kelley, and neither of them sounded good. It's not a song that shows off anyone's voice. It just proves they can sing lots of complicated lyrics in a short time. Neither one was able to remember all the words.

lol...yes, prime examples...and then to tell them, while they're trying to sing "Jolene" that there's no connection between them and they have to connect?....love it...

Speaking again of "Jolene", I thought it a wonder that Taylor John could do anything in his own style with "Jolene" while the woman, (who was that? Amanda?) to me was just channeling Dolly...that I found unfair also since it seemed to be a made for her voice song. It's true, far too early to have a real favorite...and they're mostly all quite good, but I really do like Elyjuh Rene, Menlik Z,Taylor John, Luke Wade, Katriz Trinidad.....oh well, I probably like more of the rest of them also...lol.

I'm probably the only person in the world who was never enthralled with Stevie Nicks......

"Unfair" and "made for her voice," indeed, but she lost the battle anyway. Hilarious!

I loved Luke and Griffin's battle and I'm glad the loser was saved by Blake.

Okay...I see now that I'm going to have to start taking notes. You guys always remember more than, and different things than, I do...lol..I need to go back and review some performances. Certain artists and certain numbers stick out in my mind and other seem to get lost in the shuffle.

I loved the slight, mumbled comment from Gwen about changing Craig's hair and look...and the look on his face...hehehe

Whenever I look at Pharrell's face, with his vaguely Oriental eyes, I'm reminded of Egyptian paintings and sculptures of members of the royal family, so imagine my delight when I learned that his father's name is Pharaoh. Big Yellow Grin

What is wrong with this season? Down to the top eight and I still don't have a dog in this race. The eliminations leave me cold because I really don't care who gets eliminated. Craig probably will win, mainly because there's no real competition. He's radio-ready and the rest aren't. Some have shown promise, but it never lasts for long. Each good performance seems to be followed by a mediocre one the next week.

Well, Reagan and Anita certainly could have had better song choices when they had to sing for their lives...I was stunned at what a poor showing they made, considering. I actually think there are a lot of very good people, I don't care for Danica...just a personal dislike, I guess. I don't think amyone should try to do a Whitney number, really ...they may carry it off pretty well, but the comparison is always there...they are NOT Whitney, If Gwen is ever there again as a mentor, I would hope, personally, that entrants would have had a chance to watch her this season and choose someone else if they have a choice....I think she's a ditz..lol...

Well, I'll chime in to say I like Gwen better than Christina. I don't think I've ever seen a grown woman who looked as much like a Barbie doll than Christina. And she always seemed to me just as plastic.

I am surprised that they did not postpone the voting for this last episode. I don't know how many people across the country were affected, but here the NBC special report about Ferguson cut off the last of Craig's song and totally eliminated Reagan's and Anita's. How could people vote for something they didn't get to see?

I do love the country dude, but my faves (right now) are Luke and Taylor. (And I do like Danica; I'm amazed at her growth and fashion evolution.)

I agree about the Danica/Whitney thing, Sherry. We don't need another Whitney Houston. All of her recorded songs are still available to us. I'm vaguely annoyed when people sing Patsy Cline songs, but it's excusable because most of those recordings didn't age well. Whitney's a contemporary, so her recordings were made with all of the modern technology available, and I've yet to hear anyone sound better singing her songs.

I can't stand Gwen. Aside from her ludicrous fashion choices, her childishness irritates me. I cringed when I heard her tell Craig she'd make him over into someone she'd want to make out with, for instance. The song choices she's made for her contestants have been deplorable, but Pharrell might be the worst coach in that respect. I have a feeling he'll make up for his bad choices on the show by supporting his team members after the show's over, however, the way Blake does and the way Adam did for some of his former team members. I don't know what Gwen can do for anyone, though, aside from giving them bad fashion advice. Do you remember when she told Reagan to wear sweatpants for her next performance? Was that an attempt to sabotage one of Blake's team members?

I've always liked Christina, and I love hearing her sing during her coaching sessions. She has perfect pitch and a crazy range.

Alma, I think your time zone was to blame for the Ferguson report cutting into the show. It didn't do that here, and I don't think it did it on the East Coast either, and the East Coast viewers are the ones that are able to vote in the instant save segment.

Zu, totally in sync here....

Alma, I agree about Luke and Taylor..we are talking Taylor John, aren't we? Seems like there were several there for awhile.

I really liked Anita and though I was thinking that "Redemption Songs" was not a good choice, she did a stunning performance of it...besides wanting to make over Craig...Gwen's quick little blurb there about wrapping Anita in African fabric and telling her to sort of flirt it up and be cutesy......OMG! I've really enjoyed everyone so much that I've had no preference as to who wins....I just knew that there were a couple of people who I was ready to see gone....

I'm not sure about the weird thing Pharrell has going for Sugar Joans..lol..she didn't do much for me, but his raving over her was a bit uncomfortable for everyone, I'm sure...and maybe a bit hard for him to live up to once it was seen that not everyone felt the same about her..I think it may have even cast her in a negative light as far as the voting is concerned, may have hurt her in some way.
