Here we go ladies. Jumping right back in together to get this going again. My house needs a good cleaning!!!
I don't know about you but I've been slacking all summer. It has been a busy one for me with a lot of company and a lot of travel as well. I think I have had more barbeques this summer than I have in the last five!!!
Now it is buckle down time and I must if I want a clean welcoming home for the holidays.
So we begin!!!!

During the first week of every month, Candyce concentrated on her Dining Room and the Entry way. Since my dining room is not that big, it is easier to lump the cleaning of the Entry Way and the cleaning of the Dining Room together in one week. I do have a tendency to dump mail etc on the table and it really doesn't belong there.

I do just a little bit each day, hardly ever more than a half hour in each location. The plan in the Entry Way and Dining Room is to:

Monday
1. Entry Way: gather up anything in the Entry Way that doesn't belong. Throw the trash away, and return items to their proper rooms.

2. Dining Room: gather up everything from the flat surfaces in the Dining Room that doesn't belong. Throw the trash away, and return items to their proper rooms.

Edited to add "I love you Arlene!! Thanks you so much for your help!!"

OK There is nothing in my dining room /entry that is cluttered. But I DO need to vacuum the entry rug more. I'll try.

PS I love you too, Barb!

It's Tuesday!! And already I fell down on the job. Got tied up in stuff in the sewing room last night and had to finish before anything else.
Today let's check out the walls in the dining room and entry. Wipe down the fingerprints - check those wall switches. Be careful not to rub too hard on the walls so as not to remove any paint. This will brighten up the room and make it more welcoming. I always seem to forget the wall switches!!!
Have fun and remember - 10 minutes at a time....

I know the 10 minutes at the top of the hour works for me. What works for you???

Do you have shelves in your dining room? Or perhaps a sideboard or a hutch? Boy, I know the things on mine need a good washing and polishing. I collect pewter and have those wonderful drinking cups for each of my grandchildren. They could use a good polishing. And my Mom's teacups too. So today is the day.
Is everything put where it belongs from the entry? Take a few minutes and put them away. Maybe take a cloth to any cobwebs in the corners.... Or maybe not until after Halloween!!!!!

TGIF - the first week and I've already lost a day!!! I've no idea what happened to Wednesday!!!

But--- today is Friday. Let's sweep off the porch/entry first thing and shake out that mat. It's amazing how much sand can collect under there. Of course, this is if you don't have any snow!!! I woke up to about an inch of the white stuff and it's not even Halloween!!!! Now the weatherman says about 5 inches over the weekend. I'm truly NOT ready for this.

And then let's just get rid of any cobwebs and dust bunnies in our dining room. My table is a pedestal one and I never seem to get under the center with the vacumn. Guess I'll need Norm to move the table over for me...

If you are energetic today, I'll give you my thoughts for last Wed. Check out the baseboard and check the light fixture. Dust and wash them and then check the window sills and the tops of the blinds or curtains. I'll be slaving all day today just to catch up. Oh well, it's 10-15 minutes each hour and I do what I can do. I know it makes my home look so much better and I'm really happy to be back doing this.....

Thanks for joining in with me --- I don't feel all alone anymore!!! Heehee
Hurray! Hurray! Thumbs up Hilarious! Hilarious!

It's Sat evening here now and it is snowing like crazy. We were to get 5 inches; then it changed to 8 inches and now it's up to 10-12 inches. Glad I'm snug inside - I'll try to get some pictures in the morning.
Hope we don't lose power!!!

oooh! I really am envious of your snow Smiling but on the other hand, glad its not coming our way just yet. I still need to change my tires out, and paint the crapt room ...then it can snow Hilarious! We probably only have another week or two before it hits us here so I need to get on the ball.

I havent got much done around the house, had a dr appt today that took up most of the day. Once DH & DS leave tomorrow I'll play catch up.

Stay warm and I hope you keep your power Group hug

Well, it has finally stopped snowing here. The total on my deck is 23". Yes, twenty-three inches!!!! I'll be here in the house for a while, that's for sure. We have already been plowed out but Norm still has the walkway and steps to clear. I'm glad we have a garage exit as well since we can't open the front door. We can open the slider out to the deck in an emergency so I think we will have hot coffee first!!!
The power lines in my neighborhood are underground and we have not lost it. However, there are 250,000 people in NH without power. The trees still have so many leaves that this heavy wet snow just drags them down onto the lines and down they go. The sun is supposed to be out later today. I sure hope so.Thumb of 2011-10-30/quilter5/5cd6ba

Oh my goodness! Who would have thought snow this early. Blinking

I haven't talked to DD today so I don't know if they have electric or not.

Yes, I do the 10 minute thing but I "try" to do 10 minutes in each room. Doesn't always happen but I my intentions are good Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Stay warm and safe Barb!

WOW! Barb you sure got dumped on! Stay warm and safe! I sure wish we had underground power here, but no such luck Sad

Our power company came up with a great solution to last years power outages, they were going to add a transformer 'loop' so that our downtown area would be able to flip a switch and the power would come thru the alternate loop instead. The solution required two large transformers to our downtown 'scenic' area. Unfortunately some powerhouses on the HOA pitched a fit about having the 'unsightly' transformers added to downtown. They threatened a lawsuit and now the whole project is stuck in mediation. Looks like we are in for yet another snowy winter with no power. Without power to our downtown are, we will have to drive a long way in the snow in order to get hot food, hot coffee and warmth. I am okay if there is a power outage, but we have MANY seniors in the area who cannot shovel their way out, cant put chains on their cars to drive out and are stuck in the cold with no food and heat Crying It would be nice to have a local spot that volunteers can take them to and make sure they are warm and fed...
