I am still up to my ears in snow here but I will try to keep up with this. I know it's late today but here it is.

Monday:

We are in the Kitchen this week and we are going to work our way through from top to bottom!!

Your mission for today is to look UP!
We all have a tendency to only see what is at eye level. Today we are going to look up, set your timer for 10 minutes and take a broom or a feather duster and get those dusties and cobwebs that are hanging on the upper walls that are taller than you, the corners of the ceilings and the ceiling.

If you are feeling adventurous ask someone in the house to help you and take a damp rag to the light fixture and/or ceiling fan. Please be careful!!

Check out the top of your refrigerator as well.

Thought you might enjoy this little guy as you work....And rememberr - 10 minutes at a time!!!!

Good morning - the sun is shinging here again today and that makes me happy. The snow is s l o w l y melting and I hope it is all gone before we get another storm on Thursday. But - today we are still in the kitchen so back to the kitchen we go!

Your mission for today is to wipe down the doors of your cabinets. Use a damp rag and wipe down the fronts and the edges of your cabinets. This is really a simple thing to do but we have a tendency to ignore the cabinets because there is always so much more going on in the kitchen.
Finger prints and grease attach themselves to the cabinets and make them a little sticky. A good wipe down will make such a difference. I use lemon oil to clean mine and while I have it out I think I'll give a swipe to the wooden chairs around the house. I don't have many but it will sure help the house to smell good too...
Remember - only 10 minutes at a time okay?????

It's Wednesday!! As Candyce always said " It is Anti-Procrastination day"

We are diving into the refrigerator! Grab your trash can and take it over to the refrigerator and throw open the door. First toss out any leftovers that have gotten pushed to the back and have now started to turn into a science project.

Second, check the fruit/vegetable drawers and toss what no longer is appealing to eat.

Third, check the meat and cheese drawer, check the expiration dates on your items in there and toss what needs to go.

Fourth, check out the doors of the fridge, toss the empty condiment jars and bottles that always seem to magically go back into the fridge when empty, LOL, but when full get left on the counter.

Last, grab a damp rag and wipe down the shelves. Do not take every single thing out of your refrigerator and then take the shelves out to clean them. Just wipe them down. If you have trouble spots, a bit of baking soda will clean it up in no time and does no harm to the fridge or food....

Have fun and then enjoy your sparkling refrigerator!

Thursday:

It has come to the time to go after those counter tops!! Your mission for today is to scrub those counter tops. Not just the average wipe down that we do after dinner.

Now it is very easy to make this task overwhelming but if you take this slow and easy you can do this! You just move your toaster (or coffee pot or whatever - this is an example here!) over to one side and wipe down the counter, then move over a foot or so, move aside what is there and wipe down some more and so on. We are just getting all the crumbs and junk that seems to build up behind and under things.

And if we have time, maybe we can give a swipe to the range hood. I always seem to forget about that. I need to remove the filter and soak it clean again.

Hope you are all getting back into the swing of things again. I know I'm glad....

FRIDAY

Today is our last day in the Kitchen!!

For today I want you to grab your broom and your mop. Sweep your kitchen floor really well andthen mop. There are several ways to mop a kitchen floor and no real wrong way. Hot soapy water and wipe. There is no "perfect" mop and no "perfect" way to do it. Just Do It!
For myself, I think I'll tackle the baseboards, too. They always seem to look a bit dirtier than the floor ALL the time.

During the second week of each month, we concentrate on the Heart of the Home - our kitchen. What follows is a detailed list of the items I try to clean on a monthly basis. I'll admit that I don't get to all of them each month.
By taking a couple of items to accomplish each day, though, once you get into a rhythm, you will find that you may never have to Spring Clean your kitchen at all!
Here is a list you can copy to keep on hand for when you have a few extra minutes . Or try an extra one each day... Whatever works for you.

Kitchen Detail Cleaning List (Thank you Candyce)

1. Clean out leftovers from the refrigerator and wash out the 'fridge thoroughly
2. Clean the microwave inside and out. Back, too.
3. Clean the stove / oven
4. Wash the canisters and all knick knacks
5. Straighten cupboards and drawers
6. Wipe finger prints and un-noticed food spills off of the walls
7. Wash the windows on the inside
8. Clean the stove fan and hood
9. Scrub down the cabinet fronts (only a few at a time)
10. Clean light shades and lamps
11. Clean out underneath the sink. Toss old, smelly rags
12. Wash the trash cans inside and out
13. Wash the walls near the trash can area
14. Dust and scrub the baseboard
15. Wash the legs and the backs of the kitchen chairs / table
16. Clean / disinfect the phone and answering machine
17. Clean pet dishes and pet dinner area
18. Clean the bottom of the microwave.
You may find that you have less or more areas in your kitchen that you wish to put on your own list. That's the beauty of this Plan. You adapt it to fit You, Your Home and Your Family.

I won't be keeping this going on the weekends but if someone wants to jump in with an idea or two, I'm all ears. Have a great weekend my friends and I'll see you again Monday morning..
Thanks for a great week!!!

yes thank you Barb! I am sooo glad this cubit up and running again!

I cooked breakfast this morning and made a mess in the kitchen *Blush* so decided today will be my 'catch-up' day. I'll concentrate only on the kitchen today, and only at the top of the hour. I'm having sciatica/back issues lately so I wont over do it, but I will 'just do it' Hilarious!

I do have a wonderful swifter mop that works great for quick clean ups on my floor, thats all my floor will get for now but its better than doin nuthin! Hilarious!

Whatever works my friends. Whatever works. The object is to do what we can when we can. As long as we do that we will be okay. I know the hardest part for me is asking for help when I need it.
Enjoy your weekend!! Group hug Thumbs up

I missed all this? I was at work at 5 AM this morning and just got home at 6:30 PM. Then I got a call that my house cleaning lady can't come tomorrow. She keeps up the upper level; I do the lower level. So I have dishes in the sink, laundry to do, a dirty floor, a garden that didn't get cleared . . . and 4 days into the month . . . I have not done month end.

Guess tomorrow I will need to have a talk with DH about division of labor. Rolling on the floor laughing

Since this thread is about the kitchen I wanted to pass along something I found in my kitchen this week which will speak to my horrible housekeeping habits Whistling

This morning I was going through the inside of the cabinets (remember I played hookey one day this week Big Grin )
and sitting on a stool going through my base cabinets and happened to look "UNDER" my microwave.

Not on the counter itself, as I clean under and behind it easily but the actually bottom of it. It is a convection/microwave and I use the convection feature a LOT. But I noticed all this dust, fur, whatever you want to call it coming out of the intake or whatever you call it. Sort of like where your computer fan is where it collects dust.

I had dh tip it up so I could vacuum all the dust balls.

I can't believe it was even working Blinking

Adding that to my monthly to do list Whistling

Happy Saturday!

Have a GREAT week-end1

Group hug to all....

What a great tip Vic. I will add it to the list above and to the one I keep in my folder....That could start a fire I think....
