I have been living on the Atkins Style diet for years (with my doctor's enthusiastic approval.) I am not going to get embroiled in the diet debates in this forum. Anyone who wishes to share tips, recipies, and moral support is welcome.

I first heard about the Atkin's diet from my aunt in the 1970's. I was born with a terribly efficient viking metabolism and under active thyroid. Like most of the women in my family, I have been watching my weight since my early teens. I had put on a terrible amount of weight following a serious auto accident. I have managed to lose most of the weight by strictly following the Atkin's diet, but emphasizing whole foods. I eat mostly eggs, meat, fish, non-starchy vegetables, and small amounts of cheese. With the exception of small amounts of artificial sweeteners and the occasional diet soda, I avoid processed foods.

I love cooking, especially French cooking. It is wonderful to be able to eat meat and sauces and still be "on a diet'.
