I know Brenda and I are going to have some major changes happening in this coming year. I've talked some about mine in the 'one foot here...' thread. Brenda? How about the rest of you? What's happening now that signals future change? Is it good; is it bad? Do you even know?

Well...I'll be first :))

I just graduated from college with a diploma in Bookkeeping. Have no idea if I'll find a job but I refuse to go back to a factory or Walmart in desperation.

Winter's coming...I might have to in order to keep warm but I don't want to fall back into that rut...especially since I've worked so hard for my diploma.

Congratulations, Lee Anne! Is bookkeeping the same as accounting? And how is the job market where you are? I applaud your determination to use your hard-fought-for diploma. So often people go through school and at the first sign of difficulty, they retreat to an old path that's easier if not satisfying. Stay strong and keep visualizing the job you want. I believe you will get it.

Thank you for the encouragement! The job market kind of sucks up here (where doesn't it though).

Bookkeeping is the same as Accounting. Kind of. The Bookkeeper keeps the books tidy all year and then sends everything to the Certified Accountant at tax time. I *could* go farther and take a Tax course...

I'm pretty positive that I'll find something in my area, after all, every business has money and in this economy they want it counted and accounted for Big Grin

Big congrats to you Lee Anne! I hope you really enjoy working at your craft and talent. I think, more and more, it's so important to pursue your passion. For some it's numbers. I like that, too! Good luck finding a good job and creating a career for yourself! I tip my hat to you.

I've suddenly gone from being one person in a busy house with three adults (though one is only marginally adult!) and a two y/o to being the only person here. The MOTH is in Cottonwood most of the week going to school and my GD and my beloved little GGS moved out. It's hard to miss a PITA, but I do miss her. I love her dearly and her move to some independence was long overdue. However, she took my little ray of sunshine with her! Crying He is a handful, as most little boys are, but how I miss his coming through the door and calling out cheerily - and loudly - "Hi, Me'me'!!"

It's a bit eerie, but other than missing everyone, it's a bit of a respite. I don't have to worry about making meals for people, don't have to fret over schedules, drop what I'm doing to take care of someone else's problem, etc. Actually, I never did *have* to do those things, but I did. It's a challenge to refocus and try to make everyday productive, much less fulfilling. Anyone else been in this boat lately?

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Sue! Much as I miss 'em, maybe I'd better do something with that room pretty quick. Care to tell what happened at your house?

I'll tell you what happened at my mom's house.
My sister moved back "home" with mom and stayed for 24 years.
Totally pushed all other siblings out of the picture, made us feel unwelcome in "her" house. It was awful.

Our mother has passed on and the battle continues.

Sooner or later, Barb. Sooner or later. As difficult as it was (several times over) to have my GD here, I thank my lucky stars that my daughter never moved back in! I'd have had grounds for a good defense in case, you know, if anything happened to her... Rolling my eyes. I love her tremendously - on the other side of town!

Brenda, how are things going for you? You're so quiet and I know you must be terribly busy, but how 'bout an update. You can't imagine how much I'd love to buy your B&B and move to Colorado! Someday - someDAY - I'm gonna get myself somewhere cool. Smiling

All's quiet - too quiet - here on the Western Front. And everywhere else, it seems. I'm still feeling a little bit lost. And a lotta bit creaky as some of my back muscles have decided to spasm. I'm slowly working that out and trying to do some long overdue uncluttering and housecleaning. How's everyone here? Are you well? Are the bad things getting better? Are the good things getting gooder? (You can thank a current commercial for that last one!) What are y'all up to?

Well I was doing great for an 84 yr.young, did my own gardening, all my own work, I live alone so time was my own to, but then this past June I got pnuemonia, and a bad blood infection, in order to save my life they gave me Levaquin. it did save my life but if you read up on it you will find it can rupture Achilies Tendons, and that's just what it did to me, in both legs and left shoulder, with lots of therapy My right leg is fine but not the left, or my shoulder, so my world has completey changed, now very slow getting around, and learning to do things differently, but I will get there. Thumbs up Group hug

Doris, I hope I can be as upbeat as you are if such misfortune befalls me. Drugs can be good in certain instances - and terrible sometimes, too. When I was doing my clinicals, I ran into a very nice man who looked as if someone had taken an air pump to his legs and feet. He was somewhat swollen over the rest of his body but his leg and feet skin was stretched to bursting. He told me he was a "Lipitor victim". His doctor had put him on the stuff and he awoke one day unable to move a muscle. It's a known side effect but when you hear the commercials, you don't think it will actually happen. We never know when we might be faced with such a serious illness as happened to you. Nevertheless, I'm writing up my directives now to express my desire to be as minimally medicated as possible - and with the least dangerous alternatives available.

My sincere wishes for a complete recovery. Keep posting to let us know how you are and what you're doing to keep on keeping on. You're an inspiration.

Well, I havent been here for a long while. Too busy transitioning Hilarious! A lot has happened in just a few short months. I moved from our suburban home to our vacation home in the Sierras. DH is still living in the old home during the week, and then traveling up here on the weekends until he finds a job up here, and sells the old home.

The biggest change is that all the kids are gone now Sad DS, DD & DGS come up to visit twice a month, but just a few short years ago we had 8 kids living at home! Empty nests can be extremely LOUD in their silence! I am here by myself most of the time and that too is an adjustment. I also have to relearn where everything is, not only in the house, but stores, where to buy what, etc. Learning my way around this rural area has been an experience! Rolling on the floor laughing there are long long windy roads that dont ever lead to where you thought they were gonna take you, and none of the roads here are on my navigation system. If you ask someone where someplace is, or directions you get responses like 'over by the junction' (what junction?! Hilarious! ) or turn left at the hardware store...where is the hardware store?!

Thankfully I'm still resilient enough to learn some new ways. Now.... to find a church!
