Life can get really rough at times and for some there seems to be more roughness than smooth spots. I won't share any of my life's rough spots right now as the old ones have been worked through and I always hope that the new ones that always pop up in our lives won't be something we can't overcome. I have always told folks that I couldn't make it without Prayer in my life and I couldn't make it without the Lord. He alone is my strength that gets me through my life day by day.

Melissa, please know that I love you and pray for you. Thank you so very much for helping me with my cubit. You are a very dear lady. Hang in there my friend. Things will get better. I can promise you that.

The last year has been so hard on us on so many fronts. Low valleys and high peaks. Right now it seems we are in a deep chasm in the bottom of the lowest valley. Life is so hard at times.

Hi Cheryl. Indeed life can be very difficult at times. Perhaps thinking about how you have survived other rough times will help you remember that you have the strength to get through this one, too. The only sure thing in life is change, and this moment will change as well. Sending you loving thoughts... please feel free to share with us what is happening in your life if you think it might help. There is a kind and loving group here.

I can definitely testify to the kindness and support that I have received. About the time we think things will smooth out, pow!, another blow. As the beautiful Miss Shirley Temple say,"Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again". Whistling

We went from having everything for our animals and nothing for ourselves to having something for ourselves and nothing for our animals. We are in the ministry and had to move. Long, ugly story. We got a much nicer home though a BIG cut in pay. But we lost our barn and 400 acre farm. Our animals have suffered from the move and it breaks my heart. Our health has gone downhill and it is very worrisome.

Cheryl, sorry to hear you are suffering. And that your animals you love are suffering.
I feel like you are wondering out there in life with no tether.
What is positive in your lives? What can you hold onto, realistically, to help you through this tough time?

Cheryl, even without knowing the details of what happened, it's understandable that you're suffering. As an animal lover, too, I'd take the farm and the barn over the "nicer house" any day. I'm caught in a betwixt and between situation right now (of our own choosing, so probably not like yours was) and our animals are always our uppermost consideration.

Suggestion: Post a bit about where you are, put up some photos of your favorite animals and tell us a little about them. As we talk about them, maybe you'll find a bit of comfort, knowing that others relate to them and you.

I know Brenda started this cubit as a place where we can talk openly and each of us has to decide how much - and what - to share. If it would help you feel better, please do share. We're not a bunch of psychiatrists here and I doubt a one of us is qualified to analyze or prescribe (anything at all) to cure your heartache. But sometimes it's enough to know that someone is listening and caring.

If our health wasn't going downhill we could do a little better for some of them. I really wish I could get 4 of the horses into new homes. I have the materials to build a new chicken pen but I need help doing it. I may aks the men from the church to do it for me for my BD. It's this Sunday.

Cheryl, do you feel your health problems are all associated with the upset you endured - or are they treatable medical issues? I ask because either way, it's important to regain your health. Think about it and do what you can to get on track.

Wish I could take your horses. I love horses so much and haven't had one since high school. You're in horse country; isn't there a way for you to advertise your need? How about a church member? Could someone help temporarily?

Keep talking; I think you'll feel better if you do.

No. I have a muscle disorder I was born with but it has been advancing in the last 2 years. This past winter was really hard on me and the move and all the stress of the situation did not help. Now the stress of DH's illness is also making mine worse.

DH is an insulin dependant diabetic. He has had 8 surgical procedures on his left foot and has had 2 amputations on it. He now has osteomilitis which is bone infection in a bone in his left foot. It is what is left of the bone that went to his great toe which is no longer there. This is his 4th time to have the infection.

Cheryl, I can understand your state of mind and why you describe your ordeals as being "in a deep chasm". I think I might be, too, in a situation like yours. I know you must be doing your best to help your husband, but it seems like you could use a bit of help yourself. Do not be afraid to ask for help; people need to be needed. I can be bored and down in the dumps, but if someone tells me they need my help, it perks me up and gives me purpose.

You have a birthday coming up this Sunday. I think your idea of asking for help getting your chicken pen together is great. Tell everyone it's a present you'd truly enjoy.

Here's hoping your and your husband's medical issues improve. Good health makes everything better.

Thank you for sharing and I hope it makes a tiny bit of difference to know that people you may never see wish better things for you.

Thank you so much for your kindness. I will let you all know if I get the courage to ask for help. It's not an easy thing for me to do. I am used to giving help instead.

Yes, I know exactly how that goes. You're always the helper, not the helpee. You feel it's a sign of weakness that you can't do it all - and all by yourself. You don't want anyone to even know that you need some help. Oh, yes, that's how so many of us feel - and it's so hard to change that. But as much as we feel good doing something for others, so do they when they get to do something for us. I hope you can find that courage to open up to someone and ask for even a small favor. It's like opening the door a tiny crack to see who's there. When you see it's a friend, you open the door wider and invite them in. Good luck. I'll be waiting to hear about your birthday tomorrow!

Cheryl, I hope you had a happy birthday today. Tell us how it went if you feel like it. Used to be if I had a good birthday, I'd stretch it out to a week! Not so much anymore. Whistling

I had a great day yesterday but didn't ask for help with the pen because they had all brought me gifts. I got a new tshirt with a horse head on it. A new LSU hat. Some avon stuff and fuzzy socks. A beautiful necklace. A beautiful shirt for winter. Some money and some very pretty cards with lots of nice words. I had a very relaxing day, til the horses got out into the road. *sigh* But they didn't get hurt or cause anybody else to get hurt. A man stopped to help me with them. Lots of calls from home. It was a good day.

Hi Cheryl, sorry I have been a bit absent... lots of work lately (a good thing!). Alma has such an amazing way with words (I LOVE you Alma!), and an amazing open heart. I agree wholeheartedly with Alma, sometimes it is a blessing to others to allow them to help you. I bet if your friends from your Ministry knew that you could use just a little help with your animals, they would be happy to help. It sounds like (since you have moved) that you are in a new town? Maybe a good way to get to know others (and get your coop built) would be to invite them over, and give some free eggs to those who help for a period of time. Is that an option? Wishing you and your husband well... please let us know how you are doing. And, happy belated birthday!

Brenda
