| March is a transition month here in my garden , from winter to spring , sometimes all in one day . This morning I cleared one of the larger raised beds, found another half dozen praying mantis cases. This is the most I have ever found in one spring clean up inside the pickets , but last year was the weediest I have ever let the garden get. Maybe they liked all the cover? Had a small fire for all the dried stalks. Two brief thunder storms this afternoon and now the sun is shining again. ![]() crocus Photo added 3/11 |

pussy-willow This morning started out frosty and then soared to 65+ Of course I was out playing in the garden . Planted a few more seeds ,did some clean up here and there. Let the barn animals out to enjoy the weather. ![]() And then I started cleanup in the corner pole garden that will now be the fairy garden. ![]() Cut down the blue bottle tree and made a new bush , Now there is a blue and green bottle bush . also a pot tree, that I plan to plant morning glories in and on. ... the new little fairy statue now has a home complete with pool,moss and some mushrooms |

| I rushed out this morning to greet the beautiful sunshine and it was very cold, only 39 by noon . It however was nice inside the greenhouse , so I had a place to get warm . Took lots of photos .![]() The greenhouse is a work in progress, the reticulated iris are blooming out in the garden. ![]() Crocus are showing color but not open yet, they are on the North side of the house. Daffodils have flower heads but no color yet. ![]() Daylilies are up in the raised bed I cleared last week and need moving, most of the others are ''just ''barely above ground . |

![]() The soil in the sheep tank was soft enough I could till it with a stick, Would be great if all the beds were that way ![]() Finding more than enough lemon balm everywhere, looks like a lot of work ahead to get it contained. I think it needs to be out of the main garden ,? somewhere it can go wild and not be a problem ? Wonder if goats like lemon balm? |

![]() ![]() Most of the perennial beds still look like this . I did get 5 ft. in front of the pickets cleared and all the red twig cut out . I will use the twigs , the nice red color looks good in the garden. |

![]() It has been a very nice weekend to get outside, everyone enjoyed the sunshine and warm weather. ![]() Finished the cleanup behind the shed and put the old bench back there , it isn't sturdy enough to sit on any more but may make a nice pot stand or something. Transplanted a couple plants to the fairy garden :hardy geranium (samobor) and a dusky pink columbine. Waiting for hosta to show and a few of the small ones will go there too. |

some salad burnet,just coming upworked in the herb bed , managed to get about 7-8 square foot cleared. This is what I am dealing with, terrible weeds with tons of roots ![]() |
|

| Inside the greenhouse the salad bowl has sprouted nicely also the feverfew tray and one bloom a single volunteer viola. ![]() A wren has started to build a nest in an empty watering can, I only had the house open for a single day and night. I admire their work ... butt the green house gets too hot and I can not leave it open all the time. Thought about putting the can outside somewhere but I need it. ![]() |

![]() around back the crocus are blooming and the lungwort are showing signs of blooms to come. They are very fuzzy looking, I guess that is how to keep warm in this early spring weather. ![]() |
|
|||
![]() The fish were liberated from the buckets in the garage into their summer homes. Broken pots have many uses , one being shelter for exposed scared fish. With the spring rains this holding tank will quickly fill up. |
