Mistirose did it but thanks for the offer. My computer was sending everything to cyberspace everytime I clicked send.
I was about to toss it out the door and start over with a new one. http://cubits.org/newbeeschat/thread/view/20975/#new_post
I believe this was the place where I started posting my iris pictures, and it was on that thread someone wanted to see what a charley was and wanted to know what is a charleys girl . I'm not real good with links but something is messing up where what I try to send something and have to keep doing it several times before it goes. I get frustrated.
Name: Jan - INKY'S PAL Mojito Queen Cookie and Mojito for Charley I'm a Charley's girl and loving it!
Arejay, I need you to show me one day how to add the links under my picture so they will show where ever I go post at. That would be neat! It's almost 12:30 am here so I'm off to get some advil and go to bed. Have a great night and I'll be back tomorrow.

My computer sitting here making Crinkling noises, Hope it don't do anything bad.
Mekos I got a link over there for you and a pic of Charley in his Aussie hat.
How long does it take a seed to bloom on an iris????
My weatherman says we will be in the 90's yet again today...with the heat index somewhere from 105 to 110. I'm beginning to think that someone picked up my house and moved me to South Texas!
My Lil Toodlebug is still fast asleep as yesterdays heat just wore her out. I did get some pics of her and my Lil Grandson playing in the kiddie pool and one or two of that 'Plastic Shack' that I will try and post later on.

We seem to be just about everywhere around cubits Lisa. If you ever feel lost just click on one of our avatars and write a cmail, we'll lead you back!
Hot here too, very unseasonably hot. Garden in the am and pm, it's all I can do.
Turtle Days is a festival we have every year starting this weekend at a town close to me so I thought I'd share a pix of the turtle who dug up my bog garden to lay her eggs.
Name: Jan - INKY'S PAL Mojito Queen Cookie and Mojito for Charley I'm a Charley's girl and loving it!
OH SHOOT!!!! I just remembered when I read your post Lisa, I got mexican petunis seeds to plant and FORGOT to sow them. IS it too late to sow seeds now for them to bloom this year? FUDGE! Just my luck. And I bet there are many more I have forgot about too! Double Fudge!
Name: Charleen B'ville, Ga. Zone 7b Walk in Peace / I'm Charley's Mom.
Yes, it gets warm in those bogs and they can hatch and run off before you know it. Baby Turtles are so cute Too!!!!! Your Baby will love them. I hope he does get to see them.
Look at this mess of beauty. Used to have name now just beautiful blooms. Needs cleaned out too. Daylily paradise.
Thanks Seray - BTW Joan Senior bloomed. I got a so so pic of the first flower I'll have to download. It was at a really strange angle and I would have had to crawl around on my back to get a good one - lol. Hopefully the next bloom will be conducive to better photo taking!
Cute buggie seray! I love Joan Senior - she's a beautiful bloom. I just noticed tonight she has 2 scapes... Is that normal? It's only one fan. I know sometimes they get scapes that don't bloom in the fall and they will bloom the next spring, but these both look like they are coming from the center of the fan so they would be this year's scapes.
Name: Sherri Coastal GA You betcha I'm a Charley's girl!
Well now you have me curious and I went out in the dark to count scapes. Everyone I could see had multiple scapes but only one per fan. So I will go through the group tomorrow to see if I can find what you're describing. I can't remember any of mine having scapes that lasted through the winter but the rebloomers do bloom again late summer and she maybe one of those.
Name: Jan - INKY'S PAL Mojito Queen Cookie and Mojito for Charley I'm a Charley's girl and loving it!
The bloom stem? Well, why don't they call it a bloom stem? Man the names some plants have for their parts.
And they are only suppose to get 1 of those?
I call it a bloom stem too - lol... Then someone told me it was a scape. I thought they got one per fan, but Joan has two. Gonna sleep on it and I'll talk to you all in the morning.
The sun is blistering hot here today...with the humidity way out doing the sun. I'm on a 'mini break' from outside. We got a 'cool everything off for a good 30 minutes rain' last yesterday afternoon so I sat out to do some weeding. I found about 16 little coneflower plants sprouting in between my adult plants. No weeds got pulled...but I've got baby coneflowers to set out!
The one in the hot pink pot is what I know as Keys Of Heaven. Sorry for that...a few more things I have in pots got into the picture. I was a little excited at my finding I guess...

Here is my mess of flower garden, this started out almost blank but it sure has filled out.
Lisa , it is great to get excited about learning new plants. That's what so great about these threads, we can have help with naming our plants.

Everyday, You better pull a few weeds. do you like it?? A couple of bogs built in takes up some of the room. but I need to work on it now. Just so warm out there.

Nice Robin! Are those your roses? I have some that are similar, do you know the name of them?
Mekos, you'll get there, no need to to get flustered. I did the same thing the first time I tried it too. Then like Robin said, I went back and read the directions again. We'll be here to help, you know. Back in a bit.....school time.

Hi Chelle yes they are mine. They are beautiful aren't they? Those are the Dale Chihuly did you enlarge the picture to really see them? They are amazing the colors are unique to any others that I have. Each petal comes alive with its own flavor enlarged. You lose some of the quality of the photo posting them this way maybe with the traditional one at a time photo you can see it.

Here is the one I have, I believe it to be 'George Burns'. These types of blooms are really hard to photograph as they are in the garden! I think your shots are great. No matter what I do these GB blooms never look right. Pretty, just not true to the eye.
wow those are some beauties.. wish I could grow roses, they do fine the first year but never come back the second.. I've tried mulching and covering havent gotten anything to work.. I gave up on growing them so I'll just admire everyone elses.

I thought i had a picture. I'll get you one of mine. It is an orange one; Yes it had a name; No, I don't have it now.......
But it is a pretty little thing. Like that one too. Got another I think I am going to plant in ground, it's in a pot now.

Great pictures everyone. I'm having internet problems, but after 2 hours on the phone with alltel this morning it will be fixed in a couple days. I had to order an antenna to set up to pull the signal better. The tower is a mile from me and my speed is atrocious! The tec. said he couldn't believe how slow it was. Anyway he gave me the same off my bill that I have to pay for the antenna so it basically will be free. Takes a couple days to get here but soon.
It's a pretty Daylily Mindy, whatever the name might be!
Here's a pretty hardy hibiscus bloom. This thing is huge - should have used something for scale to show how large it really is. I got it bare root as a bonus from a trade on DG last fall...

Baby is sleeping and thought I'd check in .And look what beauty you guys were showing. Love the lily Mindy. Loca the hibiscus is a dinnerplate hibiscus. I love those. I think I sowed seeds for it but not sure, you save seeds just in case. I want one! I got bunches of others. Hopeing for that one.
I'll be scarce these next few days till I get the internet fixed so when I get back I'll catch up on all I missed. Arejay and RRM will just have to hold down the fort. OR hold it up, what ever!!!

Well, I thought the white there was Queen Ann's Lace. It's Yarrow? I love it. I have Yarrow in white and red. Maybe I should make a patch with the 2 colors together. Actually, I think I'll get some yellow to add too. I think that will be lovely.
Thank you Chelle and I'll make a picture when it is framed for you to see. I love it.

I'll ask my sister on the name she might remember that one it's one she would pick out just for the name if it is. She says as it gets older it gets darker mauve color. This is the first year at my place.
Will talk to you all later I have exercise today . Also had eye dr appt and he says cataracts being removed would benefit me so that's set up for August.

Hey you guys, if anyone is ready to play yet another game during July, here is a link to go let us know. I know lots of people go on vacation and some stay home and go at a later time so I wasn't planning to do one till the end of July BUT I got a generous off to give as a prize a named Daylily to the winner if we play another one, so who is game? http://cubits.org/Theseedtraderscubit/thread/view/27216/
Have a good vacation Arejay. Where you heading off to? Florida?
I love that bushy plant with the red berries. Hope you do get a name for it. Have you tried to put it on the plant ID forum at DG? I'll do it for you if you want me to.

Feel free to post it anywhere you would like Jan. If we name it we can propagate it...that means sharing!! What is the game Jan...No not Florida this time of year...too hot for me. Off to Jonesport for two weeks of solitude than it is time for Moose pond and Blueberries!!
Name: chelle N.E. Indiana I'm proud to be a Charley's Girl!
Wish I were going along.....but then the solitude would be lost. We'd be up all night yammering on about this and that and well, you know......not resting the old noggin!

Yeah searching for neighbors with flowers that we dont yet have...midnight cuttings and seed collections!! Chelle do you think there is more than one Lambs Ear?
Name: Jan - INKY'S PAL Mojito Queen Cookie and Mojito for Charley I'm a Charley's girl and loving it!
What is that yellow bloom Arejay. I have those here too, and they also grow along the road side. just didn't know the name.
This game will be fun and you could do it on your laptop if you like as you have time to check in. This is not set in stone yet but just kind of a thought. What is your pet peeve? Give 3 different ones, One serious, one goofy or silly and one just for the fun of it and we pick 3 winners, one in each catagory. Then out of those 3- one winner for a Daylily, and one second place for seeds. Sound like fun? I'll pick the top 3 and you all vote for the winner and second place. Sound doable? We'll let it run for a week and then pick. Starting July 1st but if you are gone arejay and you were to win, we could hold the plant till you got back to ship it. YOU meaning anyone who wins. Now that is just thinking out loud and I may think up something different but be thinking. I still have a book about plants for a game and at the end of July we have the Amorphophallus game to play for August, so I'm trying to find stuff to keep us busy and having fun all summer. THEN around the end of August, I'm thinking AUCTION!

Robert Frost
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.

Jan ,Rider says its mullein(she would of course get that one) ~~Like many plants of European origin, mullein was credited with power over witches and evil spirits. It was considered one of 23 important healing herbs in medieval Jewish medical practice. Mullein's large stalk was used as a ceremonial torch as far back as ancient Rome. Stripped of its leaves and dipped in tallow, the cylindrical spike could hold a flame when carried aloft from place to place. One name for mullein is miner's candle. During the 1849 California gold rush, the mine shafts were aglow with mullein torches carried by the prospectors. The leaves were used as tinder to start fires, or as a smudge, burned over the embers of Native American campfires. The smoke was inhaled to relieve pulmonary congestion. Mullein leaf, which some tribes called "big tobacco," was mixed with nicotine leaf and smoked to relieve asthma. The leaves were boiled to make a hot poultice to treat gout and painful joints. Mullein's thick, soft leaves lined the shoes of many common folk during the winter months to provide extra warmth. The leaves were also warmed over a hot rock and fitted to the foot to relieve fatigue. Figs were wrapped in the leaves to ripen and keep, and the flowers were used to add blonde highlights to the hair, or soaked in oil to make ear drops.
Isnt that interesting so many uses and it is just volunteering everywhere here!!

OK!!!
Now you all know I am NO good at poetry so here is a taste of it.
The start of a day
The morning dew sparkles so on the leaves and grass. The birds sing their songs in sweet splendor.
Another busy day to work and run errands and get ready for a full day of tasks all around,
the evening time with children playing and supper to make and as it all winds down,
we reflect on all we remember and wonder where did all the time go.
What we accomplished and even what we missed, what we intended and what we found.
Then night comes with darkness to close the chapter and rest our minds.
Then we ponder what morning will bring as we drift off to sleep and think of all the good times.

He has them inside the garden fence, one day last week I saw Charley reaching in with his tongue And pulling some of the leaves out to eat. Robert was giving him fits too.
He had to do some wiggling to get that leaf, it's a chain-link fence with narrow woven wire inside it. We have a time with our critters. I got on a post (railroad tie) to take one pic and it didn't come out good. Have to take it from Outside the fence.
Here it is.
Good Morning Ladies..I thought I would stop in and say hello before I go out to water my flowers.. Im going to post a few pictures but forgive the quality they are taken with my phone..This is rosy returns daylily in my pink bed(pink and purple) Its been over taken now by wave petunias..
I took my hanging baskets from last year and sat the whole dirt ball out of basket into this bed had about 200 wave petunia plants come up this spring.. I moved them to baskets, beds and gave my SIL loads of them.
I'm a mod for one of the forums (veggies) in our Southwest Living Cubit. Don't know how to do all that fancy scmancy stuff yet - lol... Our Cubit is a team effort - hopefully it will be great. Mostly the same peeps from the SW Forum at DG and we're a pretty active bunch over there...

They seem nice to me Bumble I think we will be ok...we will just have to use one of those southwest words now and then so they wont think us foreigners!! What is a good southwestern word Bumble?
Japanese Morning Glory - Kikyo Zaki - open pollinated...
Some of you may remember the last plant bloomed white - lol... This one is more true to color, but still appears to have crossed with it's neighbor Fujishibori... Note the purple throat.
Largo Purple pepper - these may be too hot to eat - lol - but the tiny purple blooms are pretty and the variegated foliage - green, purple and white. The more sun the more variegated the foliage. These will definitely be going in flower beds next year...
Thanks Robin - I'm a little bummed though as so far none of them have set seeds. I know the JMGs are weird like that, but I want at least a seed or two, especially of the white ones...
If it ever makes peppers I'll surely send you some seeds. Right now it's just pretty foliage and blooms - lol. I guess the peppers are small, maybe 2", and turn from purple to red!
I love Jalapenos, course we make lots of Mexican food in this house - lol.
Watch out - that watermelon will take over the weeds! I have some pumpkins - small Sugar Pie - and those dang vines are all over my beds.
