OK.. I'm starting a thread... i was thinking of starting it with buds... But as usual I put it off.. and now I can start it with the flowers... this is the one with a few hundred buds... finally a few dozen opened at one time... go go passies...
SO Clemen... stay home and see them online... although it doesn't do justice to them...
I'll get some better pictures of this Pura Vida this evening.. I'm a bit washed out in the full sun.
and it seems there's buds on some others also... Temptation X Temptation a triploid f1 cross... seeds from Volker in Germany seem to be budding .. 1/10 as old and developed as my others... a fast blooming passi... now that's a real winner here... pictures here as soon as they are a bit more developed.. well the last of Pura Vida ...and it's first blooms
HI Becky... well I have a nice passi in front..no buds on it yet.. but I believe it's Clear Sky comming back... from wintering over outside... it's a triploid I believe.. [lots of viggor ] it's growing all over a few brugs... a rose... up the trellis .. and into another vine... so it's likely to weather the winter there... I'll see if I can get it to root... there's any number of shoots to chose from it clipping it back.. rooting is another question... I need a rooting chamber... perhaps an aeroponics unit... I'll have to build one...
Linda... well thanks... it's really opening the flowers now... bet there's 100 open today... and just three days ago... not a one...
HI Clem... so you promise do you... that's sweet... and it has been threee years 've been onto you ...to drop by for a fleeting moment...
It brings to mnd one of my mothers .. I guess southern isms... [ sayings ] for a way of doing things... or I guess relating to some one... perhaps a lover... but she used it for every 1/2 done deed
as it was..... Done....
With a Lick and a Promise ...
guess that's the minimum you can do.. for a lover ...or anyone..any task.. just a start... and a promise... for something later..
there's thousands of buds... no kidding.. on the three vines going... the last a big red one has yet to set and buds ... mostly they are on the pink one... which is likely.. a
maybe P. Anastasia ? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/166893/
and pura vida... pctured.... both have ples of buds...as they were held by the plant till after the days of heavy rains
... t's my belief the plants know when t's going to rain... and they hold their flowers till after it's over ... knowing they aren't likely to get the bees and other pollonators out in the rain... to help them set some seeds... there's a backlog of buds here soon to be blasting off
Gordon - All those blooms is amazing! I've never seen that many at once! Whatever you are doing ... keep on doing it! I finally transplanted my babies up into 5 gallon buckets and they are in a little bit of shock and should recover nicely in short order. They will do much better there as it has so much more root room and richer soil. Though I know some love abuse.
You are a bad boy reminding me that it has been 3 years, i cannot believe it is that long but it is, lol. Well one day when work takes me around your area, deal?
Well the vines do look out of thsi world like Beckie says, must be that great fertilizer that you are using.
Some of my vines are getting very tired now and getting some yellow leaves, I have to start cutting them but I know that I have too soon!
Well... sure.. if you're about anytme.. just let me know.. i'll drop whatever is going on ... and is it ever poppng... I've got work backed up... all over... I could coast to Christmas if I stopped accepting things to do.. .. and then there's the garden here... can't say just when I'll have that time this fall.. I do have another helper... for the last two weeks... so if we can spring a few days .. he'll be oh so helpful..
So.. Clemen... what kind of weeather did you get there with this last front that came through last evening.. it started with lghtning galore here.. then the rain and wnd jumpped up to gale force + ...then the rain got so heavy.. it sounded like hail... yes.. hail began... sounding like it was crashing through the sklights.. a wall of hail driven down at a 45* anggle... bopping through the roof door.. ajar about an inch... and down inside... it's stll dark.. torn up pictures with the first light
Wow, you actually got frost there, from what I recalled it was not bad, and the plants all of them are still hanging outside. I am just glad they are because I cannot start thinking that they are coming in any time soon. Hate to bring the plants in, at least you have the brugiie house you put outside your deck but that is a lot of work too.
This week should be good for them, almost 70 by the end of the week, YAY!
this was the hail build up outside.. shredded everything qute throughly...there's still a stray passi bloom though.. yes... no roof room this year... as far as it looks now... to much expense..work.. and the engine went out in the car.. so no hauling till I get a new one..and everything is so torn up... it's hard to want to save them... but the vines will come in.. along with a few dozen brugs... and the temder cactus and such...
that last pcture was a fully leafed out flowering brug... and the flag pole that was snapped in 1/2... I've rebuilt the flag pole... same as it was... just 2' shorter
Oh my gosh, Gordon! That is terrible all the damage to your plants and roof top area! How big was the hail? Fortunately, from all the root underground, they should come back ... hopefully! Is hail common in your area this time of year?
OMG unbelievable happening in Brooklyn, did the babies recoup after that? We have had unusual warm temps here and you know it, well these days, tomorrow going down...
Hey Gordon, going to Brooklyn on assignments, gotta get the address and let you know, it should be sometime in Nov....hopefully it is close to ya, I was in bk this week but close to Ozone Prk...Keep you posted, hey no more hail please!
Glad I'm down here. All my fairly hardy passies have to tough it out outdoors! After last winter, I thought I'd lost my Corona de Cristo...wow, didn't see that one until May, I think it was...long time, no see! We have 39° forecast tonight.
It was hot as hades here today! High 80's! Everyone was complaining because we'd been having low 80's for the past couple of weeks and it has been really nice. Cooler evenings, too! Not now. Grrrr ... I am soooo ready for some mild weather. We had such a long, hot summer that anything cooler seems like dream weather! Stay warm, y'all!
I live up in the hill country, where it gets colder than some other nearby places...like San Antonio, for example. S.A. is not that far from us, but tends to be warmer than us. It didn't get as cold as predicted on Thursday night, but did dip into the high 30's last night.
