DH has been offered half a dozen Old German Owl pigeons...free of charge. I know they'll need a "run" and access to sunshine. Food, water, grit. Anything else I need to know?

Sorry to answer so late, but I just now found this cubit. I don't know what an Old German Owl pigeon is. I have just plain pigeons by now. I've had a few Rollers, Tumblers, Giants, Modines, and some others thru the years tho. We have a good tight building that our pigeons, turkeys, guineas, chickens, ducks, geese, peacock, etc. all live in together. Right now we only have banty chickens, 1 peacock, and about 12 pigeons. I feed scratch grains, sometimes only milo and whole corn, and some sunflower seeds in the winter. They seem to find weed seeds to eat in growing season. For grit they eat the creek gravel on the driveway. I've put out oyster shell but don't notice them eating it. I hope this has helped you.

Hi, When I was younger my dad and I raced and showed pigeons. We had about 500 or more between the two lofts :) He is Ironbound Loft and I am Chisum Loft from New Jersey. We raced mostly the Southern course and we also did the West but, you would loose alot of birds in the West course.Due to hawks. I still have a pigeon racing clock that a friend fixed for me before he passed. I will always cherish that clock :) At one time I had some of the best Canadian Tipplers and English Carriers at the shows. Boy I miss them .. Going to get more when we get settled in RI after the move. Want to get squeekers so I can hand raise them. Yours are beautiful. They should be pretty tame, that's a good breed as a pet :) Shannon
