| A bit at a time over the last month I've been *snow sowing* seeds in the wildflower meadow. Whenever we're forecast a few inches of the cold white stuff I've taken a few varieties out there and scratched up a bit of dirt to toss them in. Have you tried this? If so, what were your results? These are the varieties I'm working with now. Most enjoy a cold stratification period to germinate well, so they go out first. Camassia scilloides - Wild Hyacinth Camassia leichtlinii - Greater Camas Actinomeris alternifolia - Wingstem Gaura coccinea - Scarlet Gaura Gentiana crinita - Fringed Gentian Gentiana quinquefolia - Stiff Gentian Geum triflorum - Prairie Smoke Helenium autumnale - Sneezeweed Helianthus laetifloris - Showy Sunflower Helianthus grosseserratus - Saw-tooth Sunflower Heliopsis helianthoides - Early Sunflower Hydrophyllum virginianum - Virginia Waterleaf |
