I didn't document the creation of my little pond. It was a day of frustration, and I needed to blow off steam. I had a waste spot in the woods, just sand and weeds and brush, and the day of frustration was channeled into digging a little pond.

The idea had been percolating for a bit, of course, but I just never got up the courage to pursue it.

I dug down 4', about 5' in diameter, and then added a shallower extension about 2' x 3' that slope to about 8" depth. Luckily I could purchase a rubber liner locally. And I had an old carpet I wanted to dispose of.

The carpet went into the hole first, to protect the liner from sharp sticks or pebbles. Then the rubber went on.

I had scavenged rocks for awhile, and by the end of the day I had my little pond filled and mostly edged with rocks.

Very beautiful. Do you know how many gallons this pond is?
