Hi Gloria,

Any tidbits of information on self hypnosis. I would like to give it a try.

Debbie,
Yes, I have two books which I think are very good. "Self Hyypnosis: Creating your own destiny" by Henry Leo
Bulduc 1985. This book is handy because it provides good scripts to read into a tape recorder and addresses
many of the problems for which people use self-hypnosis. Also, after you get the knack of it, you can read your own
scripts into the tape recorder just using his putting you under and bringing you out of the hypnotic state. I have made
several such as "Neat and Tidy" and "Talk too much". Both are my own scripts and address problems I see in my life.

The second is by a psycho-analyst phd from Columbia University: Stanley Fisher, "Discovering the power of
Self-hypnosis." He is very impressive for his intelligence and practical experience. The two compliment each other.

That said, you can go to used book sites and buy many for about $4 (including postage.) I have a total of four, but these two are by far the best. With four books I have all I need. It's easy. It's remarkable. I had a bad tape recorder desktop (shoebox) size. The sound was atrocious, but when I listened to it (muffled and hard to hear.) I
went right under. Now I have a mini (micro?) cassett which does just fine.

When you go to used book sites, choose "low to high" costs to get many selections at extremely low prices. You do
not need to buy prerecorded hypnotic tapes for things like weight loss, self esteem, etc. You can make your own
tailored to your specific needs.

Gloria,

Thanks for starting this forum. I'm very interested in it. I've always thought we had more inner control than we made use of, so this might be very helpful.

I'm going to look for those two books, and am looking forward to more discussion on these topics.

LOL, Sharon, so much for me to do and so little time to do it in! I have to get a little time from the anxiety of winter sowing. The possums knocked two of my special seeds milk jugs over. I have to look at them today and try to figure
out how to salvage them. But self hypnotism does work; it is free, and it is easy. Remarkably our Montgomery County Library System has only one very silly book on it, but there are tons of books available at used book sites.

I guess the possums must have been hungry, poor things, sorry about the seeds, though.

(I'm not real fond of possums, no matter how hungry they are!!)

I have sunshine and robins all over my yard today. That's a good sign of almost spring, don't you think?

From the looks of my house, I need to listen to my "Neat and Tidy" tape at least twice today.

We have sun, but there is still considerable snow on the ground. I am anxious to see what my electric bill will
be this month since the State Legislature sold us down the river and allowed the Appalachian Power people
to practically double their charges. What an awful time to do that to people already struggling to stay afloat.

I have yet to make it to a meeting held by a woman who is a hypnotist. She only allows four or five people
in her group. It is understandable that people are not beating down her door in this county. It will be very
interesting to see how she works. She says that there have been remarkable cures of illness and disease.
She has a great deal of faith in it.

You be sure to tell us about it when you do get to go.

Have you been to a hypnotist before? Or are you studying this on your own?

Sorry about your snow. I guess you don't want to know we've only had a couple of dustings of snow during this winter and today was very near 60 degrees. I have sunshine and robins, and the finches are beginning to turn gold. I also have little green things popping up all over.

Of course now that I've mentioned it, it'll probably snow next week...

self improvement through the mind

It is obvious that our thinking, our bodies, and our health are often a reflection of our minds. Let's talk.
