I surely do love these Kizmo. As I love all you do. I wouldn't have thought all those primary colors would be as pleasing to the eye as they are!!! I'm a subdues fabrics person but I love both of these.....

Kathy, beautiful quilts you have made. I love the one in primary colors on black background. Thumbs up

The blue/white baby quilt is also very pretty. Smiling I once made lots of table mats in this pattern, I think it is called "love knot" Lovey dubby . It is a very nice and easy pattern and beautiful in many color combinations. I got hooked on it and the table mats were Christmas presents I gave to members of my family.

Kathy< what is the primary colors quilt called? I saw a similar one on Fons & Porter TV show called twirling triangles.

Magga, those mats are really pretty, the pattern pops out better than mine! Yes, the pattern was Eleanor Burns Lover's Knot, I'd looked thru several that were called the same thing, but since her books are so easy to follow, I found the book on a Used Sellers list for under $5 and used it.

Karen, the primary color top was fashioned after a quilt made by someone on another forum, but she didn't list the pattern. Hers was against a white background, with sashing of primary colored dots on white, and orange borders. Very eye catching..... for the pinwheel pattern, I just went to Quilterscache and found this one:

http://www.quilterscache.com/P/Pinwheel8Block.html

My test blocks were the primaries on a white muslin, similar to the one I saw, but found that I liked the black so much better. I haven't seen the F&P episode, will have to see if it's available on their website of videos...

Hi Thunder!!!! I owe my 'brights' sewing to you and Jaye.... LOL I have a pattern for another one that has stars with different lengths of points against black background, need to try that one next if I have enough fabric left. Need to send off an order to Keepsake for more of the Kona.
Sweet little dress you made for Malena! Now she needs a sunhat and a purse to go with it!

Fons & Porter pattern...twirling triangles, is in July-Aug. 2010 issue. I'll have to look more for the Eleanor Burns book, found it for $10 +$4 shipping. I'll check eBay too.

Twirling Triangles is a 6 section pinwheel.... I have that mag upstairs, but it appears to be made the same way. I just liked the 8 section one better. I purchased mine from Alibris Books
http://www.alibris.com
I have found quite a few used, good condition books here and have had no problems.

Karen, I have the 1985 edition. The 2008 is for her 30th anniversary and has pictures of her son and daughter in law's wedding, also directions for dust ruffle and such for other projects related.
The pattern pictured on the front looks the same... here's an introductory vid from her site for this...

Won't work Barb, I'll bet she wasn't really throwing those pieces away...she's a quilter after all. I did get a good deal on the book at the site Kathy put in. I really like the blues, been wanting me a blue & ivory quilt. This just might be the one.

Barb, EB just cracks me up! I can watch her over and over, and everytime she tosses those pieces over her shoulder to 'get rid of them', I just imagine her tv crew hustling around later on picking them all up... Can't you just see them saying "there she goes again! Orion, can't you do something????" LOL Oh well, I have a tilted sense of humor, but her videos on her series on her website has her dressing up or cracking all sorts of jokes... funny stuff to me anyway.

Karen, Alibris has some pretty good deals. Usually buy from Amazon, but if someone's gonna sell it cheaper, that's where I'll go! Are you planning on a big quilt for this pattern?

If I make it for me, it will be king size plus as I would like a complete bedspread.

you could make smaller versions and edge a pillow case or make shams, that would be pretty too! I'm assuming if the regular pattern calls for 2.5" strips, using maybe a 1.75 or whatever would make a narrower pattern that you could edge with.. I'll have to try that tomorrow to see how that works out. I don't use shams anymore since I remarried, so haven't attempted to make any of those.
The pink/brown quilt I made for Kristen a couple years ago, had enough left over that I made pillowcases to match. The paisley backing was main part of the case, then used the other colors to make mini-squares to go along the edge/hem.

I like that idea for the cases Kizmo. I just got my Boston Common ( by Eleanor Burns!!!) quilt back from the quilter. Just need to sew down the binding and it will be finished. I made it for a queen size bed with a drop to the floor on three sides. Can't wait to get it on the bed.!!!!!
And yes, she is truly a hoot to watch. I have several of her patterns/books. I really like her methods....

Good Idea Barb, wouldn't have to make the whole thing quilted that way, just the top.

ALL of it is quilted Karen. I can't wait to get that binding done. It's going to take me a while I think. The arthritus in my hands has been acting up in the damp, wet weather so i'm going slowly!!
