Oops....I've been in Iowa for 2 weeks and am so far behind. So sorry the thread got too long. But oh my!!! the thread is so full of information you might want to go back and take a look.

We just came from here: http://cubits.org/sewingideas/thread/view/51822/

Now let's carry on with more good ideas and lots of how to's. We've got a whole new thread to fill up!!

Cheryl...you OK now??

Kiz...keep sharing your info with us. Good stuff.

This quilt was on display at the American Quilters Show in Paducah about a year ago. One of my favorites.

(copied and transferred from previous thread, in case there's interest)

Found this easy 10 minute block idea... not sure if it takes that long or not, but how easy to make a quick block! you could use any size squares, as they are all the same size - 5 squares to a block, the center block is 'on point' and only 3 seams!! I think she used 10" squares, but in one of her other videos, she mentions using FQ size... you could put together a quilt top with a border in nothing flat!! Oh, sometimes she turns down the inner block seam and stitches it down like a cathedral window, really nice. There is a book out there too, with other ideas.
Sorry if this is old news to you all... I tend to find these cool things long after the hype has died down...LOL IMO this rates right up there with those easy pinwheels!

Or if you don't want to do the Youtube, here's a link with instructions/pics... (different instructor)

Thunder, I even think we've got Anita back in the mood!!! Hurray! I think she's planning on handstitching a trial block together while she's at work.... I figure if we can get her to make a block with large squares, she can make 6 or so and make her first baby blankie for that cute grandbaby!
Morning Sharon and Cheryl! All are welcome for the postings, I'm just happy I stumbled across something that you all can use!!

WOO HOO--- another morning without rain!!!!! Had a few blow thru here last night, but nothing severe, more expected today, but looks like it may go south of us here. I still have tons of stuff to get in the ground, that should have been planted already!

Can you see a type of drunkards path pattern in that block, if you run the same colors in a diagonal run? How cool is that??? In the video link I posted, she has those center squares fussy-cut... How about a RWBlue in that, Thunder? maybe a flag design fussy cut in those centers? Does Malena have a RWB quilt yet?

Off to appts today and the nursery for ivy geraniums... (and of course there's a LQS right next door...... Whistling )

No she does not, I have one in the planning / designing stage....want to make her something with Butterflies, probably will do two, for the bunk beds.....Daddy was just home for leave, and he converted her crib into a "youth / day bed" configuration....next step will be into the bunk beds, she is so tall....I am thinking it won't be long... I have a design I made some time ago, but it is in blues, and purples, with some greens and pinks too....very pretty.... also had a pattern for a butterfly shaped throw, that I lost when my computer crashed....hoping I can find it again, and would do that in RWB....

not quite sure yet, as her room now is very "girlie" pinks and purples, but she has all kinds of colors / designs in her quilts and blankets, and sheets...Pooh,Tigger, little mermaid...skulls and cross bones !! bunk beds are in the guest room...don't know if they will move her into the other room, or move the beds into her current room...when the time comes???

I also have a ton of 12 inch blocks, in RWB, every time I was in a swap...I did many of my "practice" blocks in RWB.....she will most definitely end up with something in RWB..... and I still have the blocks everyone made for my son...to get together...my plan is to get them put together and quilted, so that it will be ready to give to him when he comes home from this tour....
also have this one I want to get put together...

Thunder, I have been saving butterfly patterns - pieced, appliqued and PP'd - in a folder, but haven't seen one that is shaped like a butterfly. If you'd like, I can send you some pics of the ones I have to see if there's anything interesting...

I thought maybe you had made her a RWB quilt to remind her of her daddy when he was gone, maybe sew ribbons on it for the 'tie a yellow ribbon' type thing..

I put one up for every day that my "soldier boy" is out of country......My way of having a special moment with him every day.....Grand daughter carries the ribbon out when ever she is here, she is learning to count....and she will walk up to them and say "daddy...1 2 3 Daddy " and she gives me a hug, and rubs my arm.....she knows...... Morning everyone.... just a quickie before I head out to the porch with my coffee. Another humid one today, but if I get started early I won't wilt as fast!
Linda, that panel comes as one piece for 6.48. I bought the red and blue tonal to do borders with and that red, blue and gold stripe for binding. Not sure if I'm doing just a double border or adding some cream stars between the red/blue. Will know after I start playing with it, then quilt and hang. By the way, if you click on the above pic, you'll see the entire panel, forgot to add that note....

Thunder, that's what I was referring to... a RWB nap quilt size with ribbon bows stitched on.

Sharon, are you getting rested up??? LOL
