finally got this top together.... it didn't call for the outer border, but to bind in bias binding instead. But since I want to make a reversible to hang in the front window, I needed someplace to put a sleeve or whatever... size approx 32x36, just used stash stuff...
Got these in a newsletter, the first is a free download for those of you who EQ, the second is a link for Jinny's free pattern, and there's some others there
Hi Sharon! Hope you are having a wonderful late spring. Paducah used to flood downtown when the river was as high as it was this year. I wondered if the quilt show was affected. I think it's right by the river. It wasn't there when I was a kid. Paducah is one of the prettiest towns in KY in my opinion, all the dogwoods and redbuds! I did buy all my material from Hancock's. My whole home ec class would shop for their yearly dress fabric downtown Paducah. We'd eat lunch at the drugstore buffet and get our hair fixed at the beauty school. I could almost do that again!
Thanks Thunder..... Hi Sherri! Sharon! Hope everyone is having a great week! I keep seeing other's pics of Paducah, looks like a wonderful place to visit!
Hi Kiz! It is a hot week! Nearing 100*, but maybe rain on Thursday.
Sherri, the flooding was nearer the first week in May, and by that time the quilt show was over. But this year it was held in places all over Paducah, wherever there was space. The Executive Inn/convention center where it has been held always in the past was/is torn down this year. Big controversy but it was sold and then left to ruin, so finally it was destroyed. Sad.
Anyway, there's no longer a drugstore buffet, but Hancocks and the beauty school are still there. It is a pretty town, and in spite of the rain and flooding the redbuds and dogwoods were beautiful again. You need to come see us!

Hi girls. Hope you are all well.
Kathy, your flag is so beautiful, and it really looks as it is waving in the wind. And thanks for the Jinny Beyer´s links. Some nice blocks and quilts to make there. I found a pattern there for a quilt I started on during a quilting weekend with ca. 80 other quilters last fall. Hope I will finish it before next Christmas . It is called Pacific Rim.
The last 2 months I have been torn between my main hobbies, quilting and growing tree seedings and gardening. We have had a very cold spring and I have hardly planted anything out yet. So I feel like I haven´t done anything for ages. I wish I could do something about the weather here.
Hello Magga! Sometimes I find it hard to decide whether to sew or garden.... if I sit down to sew, I keep thinking of some housework or whatever that I should be doing instead! If I had my druthers, I'd druther be sewin'.... !!!
I want to finish my flag for our July 4th holiday, but we're also leaving on vacation the same day, and we have houseguests the week before... so I'm on a tight schedule here!
Our weather here is either hot and humid or rainy for days... hard to work outside either way!
Thank you for the kind words, and keep an eye out here, the ladies are working on a charity quilt and who knows what else they be doin' !!!!!

News - I lost my job today "No cause" they said, but it ended at noon.
I was physically sick all afternoon, then went to bed and had leg cramps. My body going through the shock I guess.
Now both of us are unemployed.
Good thing is, the company waited until my probation was over then they gave me severance for 6 weeks pay. Guess they thought enough of me to do that. All they had to give was no notice before the probation was up, and only 2 weeks severance after probation up.
I also have free job counseling, etc. for 1 month and some other stuff I haven't looked thoroughly enough at. Will do that when my brain settles down.

Thank you, Sharon - I'm not sick anymore - just a bit of a sore tummy from previous. I think it was God's plan to have me take some time to do things I need to right now. I was at work until 8:45 last night, trying to catch up on things..... Anway, now I'll have the time I need. siiiiiiiiigh

Thank you, Audrey!!
I hear you're able to swallow again!! PTL!!!
btw - my DH is out working on a neighbour's door - will get $200 for taking out old and putting in new - another friend of ours helped him with the start, but Bob gets the $$ for it all. Isn't that wonderful?!?!
You know, Susan...... there are alot of older citizens that are looking for an honest 'Mr Fixit'..... would be something to tide him over until something else comes along. Word of mouth works wonders!
