Maid M, Have you made one of your own swap blocks yet?? the scrappy one?? I just loved doing that one....try one if you haven't....Yet...you may just want to make blocks all day..
I still can not decide what to make for Betty.... guess I have to look through all the blocks again.....
Y'all interested in doing a swap here??? or is everyone too busy with the yard???
My opinion is that : one can not have too many quilt blocks waiting on the sidelines..
Nothing in particular yet...just tossing it out there, if any one is interested we could "chat"...and decide what we want to do....
recipient picks colors they want...seamstress picks the block is always fun....
I have always wanted to do a "row" robin....you make the first row, send it to next person, they add a row, goes to next person...etc...till you get it back... you could choose colors, or theme..or just leave it to the next in line to pick something that goes with your row...... can add in some pieces of fabric when you send out your row to be included in the remaining rows....or not....
we could pick the block and the colors we want, like the 12 month swaps....
One of the round robin quilt events I was in was done with borders. You made a center block. Then the next person added a border and then the next another border. We had six people to a quilt so there were five borders plus a center. When the center is block is sent out the only directions are to try to keep to the colors. And fabrics left over from the center were sent with the quilt in case someone else wanted to use them in part of their round. This is the center I designed on this one and someone else added each border.
It is wall hanging size Maid M. Abot 40"X40". That was done back in 2004. I was truly a newbie then....I've learned so much over the last 8 years and I'm still just as passionate as when I started. I really love the medium of quilting...
I am now almost done with my quilt as you go quilt, going to get the binding on it tomorrow before work, so I can bring with to start on the hand stitching part..
round robin?? row robin?? blocks is good too...just thought we might want to do something different????
Barb, I got your package...came yesterday after I had gone to work. so it was waiting for me when I got home thanks much...
pieces for quilt for my kids charity...pics were already posted SMCT5
I'm in FL!!!!! Got in Fri afternoon. Sat was the party & the weather was wonderful. Did get a couple passing storms yesteday but I was indoors when each came through. Now they are calling for sun, sun & more sun thru Thur - when I must go back north.
This AM I'm heading out to help my fried Yolie with some gardening chores. Hope to get back & cleaned up & out to visit a local quilt shop later this afternoon. Then tomorrow I'll be working in my garden all day. Wed I'm heading up to Amelia Island to visit with friends up there till I head home.
I was sitting here in my motel room last nite wishing I had something to work on. The one time I didn't bring any hand piecing work, I have a comfy chair & a good light!!!!
I do have my EQ loaded on this computer & do plan to finish laying out that crazy log cabin block for Thunder over the next few days.
Anyway, glad I figured out where everyone went!!!!
Good to see you Jean, we are back and forth between here and the "other building".
Glad to hear you didn't experience the weather that passed through here on Saturday night--not fun!!! Apparently the same front hammered Gainesville Sunday afternoon, where I used to live . I hope Gardenglory (Pam) is okay. Need to check on her.
Enjoy your days in the sun, have fun at the quilt shop and hopefully it won't be much long and you will be here permanently and we can attempt to all get together.

Oh how I understand that statement! Just think we are just at the beginning of the thunderstorm season--doesn't look to promising, does it? Well as long as you and your family is okay--that is all that matters.

If'n it will make you feel better Jaye..you go for it...and I will think of you every time I hear the skies grumbling
I used to have a friend that used to say to me " will you tell your Grandfather he don't have to yell at you so as we all have to hear it !! " and I would say back "but it wasn't me this time, really!!"
Hope Y'all are havin' sweet dreams, and wake up to a happy and healthy day....
I am also playing around with making something for the RW&B swap. I have found some neat things already but I am lacking that one item that makes me feel like I am ready to send it to a buddy. Does that make sense to anyone but me?

Hello, Hello!
I am b a a c k, lol. missed you you all very much. But you were with me in spirit everywhere We went.
We saw some incredible window scenes that made me think of you all the time.
Absolutely gorgeous embroidery, little wine bottle aprons, beautiful wool, and knit sweaters...
Anyway I am very happy to be home. My craft table was put to very good use, My Breenie girl kept it pretty occupied with her paintings.
Sew, just thought I'd pop in to say hello, I've lots to catch up on.
Here is one display, I thought was very lovely!
LOL, We took over 1200 photo, and about 8 hours of Film, so i hope this is the right picture.
This was taken in Venice, the second time around!
Ok.. now I can breathe and re-appreciate what our Sistah Judy shared with us.
Wine bottle aprons!! Hey, that's an idea for a good Christmas gift for my sister who's a wino!
I love open work tablecloths. Did you get any of the European laces Judy?
WOW!!!!, Linda & Jaye loving those RW&Bs the fireworks were stunning. I still have a tub full from making all my grandsons stars and stripes quilts. Don't really have a good excuse to get more but oh my I love them.
There were some of those RWB Kaufman fabrics sold at my quilting store, LK. But they have the Boy Scouts insignia. Can't use them.
Alas.. sew many fabric.. sew little time.
Why oh why must Maid M reignite my old passion for quilting
Y'all trying to kill me all that gorgeous fabric, and me with no moneys at the moment some of them will be going on the wish/ wait list....
I probably have enough RWB to make about 10 quilts...at least really I do!! and enough blocks already made for about three...not counting all the blocks everyone sent to me to make my son a quilt.......
when ever I do a block swap, I do my "practice" block first in RWB...then make the block for the recipient, in her colors....sew I have RWB!!!! Oh yes I do!!!
Hope y'all are having sweet dreams, and wake up to a Happy and Healthy day....I am off to bed....
Hi! Woohoo, finally getting over to this building!
LOL, I had to read from the start of thins page...
Sew? What has become of sew many threads swap?? Loving the idea of the rows block.
Susan, love your block a very pretty.
Oh goodness, I love the Eagle print with the red in the back.
Jaye, No, i didn't buy any materials or pretty European lace, i just admired it from the window.
Thunder! I am so glad you joined the RW&B swap. Oh my goodnnss, how proud i was right along with you about your son. Love the picture of daddy and lil daughter with his hat...just precious!
And thank you all for joining our journey, so sorry to be taking so long in posting.
We have jumped right into busy as quick as a wink.
I have started a 6 month Christmas block swap in the other building if anyone is interested. It's going to be fun!!!!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1094424/
The more the merrier and all are welcome.
Barb
Remember my Towel dresses? Well MIL loved them so much she requested one for herself!
Sew for mothers day, I am making her one...What do you think of my new lil apron? Still have to make the neck ties
Then will finish it later today. That back material is for the dress. Her choice of colors was peachie, but this was the closest I could find.
Hey Jaye, how did your Towel dress come out?? you going to share a picture?
Wow Thunder, you are one busy lady!!! I finished the dishes so far, does that count?
Ended up not getting every thing done yesterday as I was needed to babysit Abbigail while her Mom went to get Catie-Beth from school. Abbigail came down with Fifth Disease--I had to look it up also--and the meds were making her groggy. Grandma to the rescue--well some one had to do it. Her little face was a red as could be and puffy, blotches all over her back and tummy area and oh my so cuddly!! Love those times. She is much better and was allowed to go to school today but now they are watching the youngest as she has some spots. Not sure yet if her's is the same or she has poison ivy--sure hope not.

finishing the dishes is a great thing!! I never get around to that
thank goodness for nice guys at my house who do those kinda things so I can SEW of course they like the things I sew for them, and they know when Momma gets to sew she is a much Happier person
''if Momma ain't Happy....Ain't nobody happy"
I am truly blessed with a bunch of great guys, they spoil me, and I spoil them right back!!!
Good for you both. Now there is only Kim and myself and we are still in the process of learning to leave together after 20 years not. Lots of adjusting but at least we are working on it. Trouble is we both have a different craft interest and we both want to work on them rather than dishes and housework. That part doesn't work.
Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional! My Mom
Well usually I do the cooking during the week and Kim cleans the kitchen. On the weekends we reverse chores. However sometimes all get neglected as we are doing something we have been wanting to do with our 1. yard, 2. crafts--mostly Kim as I am in the yard.
I dread tomorrow--90s until the first of next week and then they are saying we could have rain.
Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional! My Mom
Hello everybody!!! do you ever go to connecting threads ?? they have been doing some very good tuts!!! great for brushing up on skills, or learning a new "trick".
The hours in the day are getting way to short now to do all I want to do---yard work and quilting plus looking up all the wonderful sites everyone keeps coming up with.
Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional! My Mom
I went to the beach...and DID NOT bring sewing or beads that is a first time for me!!!
we had a great day off from the world !! now tomorrow I sew, sew, sew!! got to finish block for Betty, and blocks for the pick your block swap , and I did finally get the lettering figured out for the quilt label so I need to transfer to this computer, and print, so I can put on the light box and trace letters onto label
Darn... you must have felt naked Thunder!! Not bringing any sewing paraphenelia?
I told you all one day I'll finish the 2 blocks left for the swap.
Well.. I did..
I know Betty doesn't frequent here, so I can safely show you what I did for her using the left overs from Maid M.
I have been digging through my fabric stash, trying to find colors for the pick your block swap at dg..... no grays, and wondering just what is cream??? I will have to go out to get something for the grays, and I am hoping I am "doing the right thing" with the creams....now I am off to do some more cutting....
here is a sneak peak....do you think you see your colors???
Oh yes, I see several that could be mine. I actually found some gray TonT prints when I went to Dothan with my DIL. Now I need to check to see if I actually purchased some or not. CRS is getting to me really badly lately.
Well we are having some rain and it has brought out the little destructive demons in the yard. I sure wish I could figure out a way to transport them to another location!!!!
Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional! My Mom
Good luck finding the grey fabric. I have placed order's several times, and I have not yet recieved a grey fabric. Guess they are all color blind, because what I am getting are beige, not grey.

I'm here! I've been all involved with the trouble about Cubits! Has anyone heard anything today? Are we gonna stay up?
I'm not sewing right now, I'm trying to pack up and move. Hopefully the move will be final July 2nd at the latest! I may have to get a new sewing machine, if I can't find someone to work on mine in Kennett.
My Word!! ou have been busy. I was busy but not having much fun, had to clean cottage getting ready for summer guests, after a winter of college boys. YUK!

I will be starting to sew again!
Because our place hasn't sold yet, my DH has put my sewing center back on the wall! It's on a different wall, and much less obtrusive (the "guts" of it are in a closet, and it extends for use into the rest of the den).
I'll have to post a pic of it! I'm so much happier to be able to sew again!! He brought some boxes of my sewing stuff home, too. One sewing tin is still at the company he works at, because that's where it's being stored..... I NEED that tin!!! It has some completed squares that I need to send to other quilters, as promised.......
So sorrrrrrrrrrryyyyy....
I'm a baaaaaaaad sistah.
These few days I've been very much occupied with personal affairs.
When I get home, I just want to veg. Tho' I lurk.. the words were hard to come out without sounding depress...and I DON'T want to bring you all down.
Sewing?? Yes, I have.. like 2 hours on Saturday and maybe 10 minutes last night That's an accomplishment to me!!
I look back on the past weekend and wonder what the heck either got into me or what medication did I inadvertantly take! whatever it was, I need more I found 2 more UFO's! as one of my Facebook friends said today, that means Unfinished Forgotten Objects lol......
Sewllo!! LOL, just made that up, feeling kinda giddy tonight.
not only can I sew, but I can cook toooo. my honey said this is better than mine....how cool was that. Country ribs of all things!
Heavy sigh, i have not sewn anything in a couple of weeks. I look at it, got tons of ideas but, lol for now thats about it.
I am thinking about just valancis for the house in WI. and only in the kitchen. Oh, went to this cool 5bucks and less store and found some pretty kitchen towels, Igot Blue/white for the dress and Red & White for the towel...going to make a towel dress!! and then, decided I just love The flour sack and daisy towel from Cindy, that I am going to make the valances with the same! LOL, sew cool, I actually have the same daisy material and very similar sky blueI..couldn't help but think how country neat that is.
Grrr, until i can figure out what the heck a scant 1/4 is...so far I've not been too lucky, just scant do it!!
Ohhh, but learned, Im thinking 12.5 rather then 6.5 which really is the actual square I needx4...right, I think.
OK, so I think i've gone over the edge with it. I have been looking at educational toys for the shapes! LOL, you know maybe I can copy it and enlarge to what I need....
Mojo, Your projects are splendid! I'm just in awe. LOL, I sure can hear you on the energy boosts. OMG, I think the Bag for Teacher is my very favorite.
Well...I've got to run, Sew i sure hop you'll all have a great evening and or day.
Thunder, where are you? Haven't seen you for a bit.
Linda Kay, geesh..sure am hoping you get to feeling better SOON! Like right now...you go have some tea and jump into bed.
I have been working, and in a cruddy mood, and as Jaye said, do not want to bring any body down....I have been reading all the posts every day, sorry just have not been in a chatting mood....
ya know how it goes, nothing major going on...just a whole bunch of little annoying things, that seem to have added up, and got the best of me....so I have been "down in the dumps"...not feeling like doing anything.....butttttt yesterday was ok, today was better, and hopefully everything will keep on this way........Momma was feeling very good today, as was the DH.....that sure helps...
Sondra, I remember when you posted the beginnings of that square in a square !!! they all look great
yes Barb, I have pictures....but can not show them yet... there did not seem to be much action at the row robin thread either....how's it going with your table runners etc....I saw a set of place mat patterns this morning and thought of you...I will try to find it again, and send you the link...something quite different....
Judy, ya just got to keep practicing....you will get that scant 1/4.....and if not perfect...thats ok...I don't always get it perfect for sure!!! Many of my 12.5 blocks come out .....more like 12.25...............EVERY swap block I make to send out....I make a practice one first, (usually in RWB) if it measures good I do the same over in the swap colors...if it does not measure out...I adjust my seams....and make another.....I could put quite a few RWB quilts together
Susan, ♪♫♪ singing you a happy song...even tho I can not sing!!! Happy you will be Stitchin' again !!!!
Karen, I am so glad I did not have to do THAT job!!!
Audrey, don't you work too hard with that moving business!!, and I am sure when you get settled a bit you will be back to sewing, with fixed machine, or new one...

Thunder - will be sewing when I'm feeling well.
I'm home today & tomorrow with bronchitis.......
feeling so weak, and stuff....
Here's my Sewing Center, that my DH has attached to the wall, again, for me.
The table folds in 1/2, and the piece at the bottom is the leg and swings into the flat, so it's only 14" from the wall.
I'd close it up and show you, but I'm too weak.
Maybe I'll do it another day.......

I haven't been coughing as much or as hard today - I know I have stress, which tightens my throat, and allergies (people WILL use scent at work.....), and not talking much today helped.
I managed to have a hotdog for supper - didn't have much energy to make anything more.
I slept from 8:30 last night to 7am this morning, then slept from 1:30 to 5pm today.
I'm sure that all helped.
plus I had Buckley's (like US Robitussin........ very strong and it works!)
although I'm feeling weak, I'm feeling better.
Thank you for your thoughts.

g'morning - been an "interesting" one.......
2nd day home, sick with bronchitis
this morning, I logged into my system, tooling around the 'net, when my monitor went blank, then my system started smoking....... black
I unplugged everything, but by then my den was all smokey and that didn't help my lungs any..........
I tried my DH's system, but couldn't connect to the 'net.
Turns out that our provider is working on the lines in the area and I couldn't get online anyway (but I didn't know that, so was spooked that I'd fried the internet connection)
anyway, and obviously, my internet is back up, and I hooked my old computer up but it doesn't have internet, so I'm on my DH's system.
Have to run out and do some errands, but will be back later.
Susan, I'm answering on both your posts. I have a feeling that somehow your provider sent a surge into your puter that fried it. It just seem too much of a coincidence that they are on your lines and your puter just happens to fry just then. I would get after them to try and prove they didn't do it.
Hi..Thanks for the Tip Thunder. I hope your in better spirits.
I like your idea very much, I will most likely be making something with the used blocks!
Today i worked on cutting for row robins, so I hope it works out the way it should...Decided, this "scant" stitching is the pits but I really like the blocks so keep practicing, I will...If it turns out, i will be bursting with smiles the whole USA will hear me cheering! LOL.
Mojo, Wow and Wow on the blue and white block!!!
and awe how sweet to get a smooch from the Adorable little Rian.
Susan nice sewing area, Hope your feeling better...big, big bummer about your sewing machine. Hope you get it fixed soon.
Hey sistah Judy.. scant stitch is one or two threads (on the material) over the 1/4 inch mark.
Don't sweat it out.. like Thunder said. I don't get perfect 12.5" block. I know... it drives.. me.. loco too!!
Got some patriotic fabrics.. LSU fabrics are washed, dried and fatly quartered..

Judy - not my sewing machine - my computer fried.....
hmmmmmm provider sent surge through? Karen, the power outage was on Tuesday, and lasted 5 minutes.
the provider was working on the lines today when the system fried. I'll have to check into it.
Our Motherboard is fried, and will cost at least $300 for a new one, or $250 for a reconditioned system........ I'm thinking maybe I can get along with the old system.
Thank you for the idea, Karen!!
Well I have been out of bed for about three hours now...does not feel like it tho...that time flew....I think I may be awake enough to try to tackle some sewing
