| I was just thinking someone needed to start a new thread, which was why I asked about Bonnie. Don't want to upset people but a slow connection means long threads get to be a bore so well done Sheri! Its very interesting to watch how young children develop, and how different siblings can be despite being raised in identical conditions. My youngest two grandchildren look like peas in a pod-except ones a boy and ones a girl- but their personalities are miles apart. She is wise beyond her just 7 years, very determined, very confident and doesn't cry when she's hurt. He is9, very clever and affectionate, but can't keep his mind on anything for more than 5 minutes, lacks self confidence is very excitable and a total wimp if he even pricks a finger! She watched the shenanigans surrounding our election and the eventual appointment of the prime minister, and yesterday asked her father how old she needed to be before she could be PM. adding "they need a good woman to sort them out". Her brother said he wouldn't want the job, he wouldn't have time to because he would have to give up playing chess! Chess is about the only thing those two have in common, they both play extremely well but he needs a lot of encouragement because he doesn't have confidence in himself and his abilities, she expects to win and is mortified if she doesn't! Last year as a 5 year old she competed in the all age National Championships, of course she was rather heavily beaten and announced she didn't like losing "so next year I won't" She has so far kept to her plan as as a 6 year old she made South of England under 8 champion, I suspect the "all age" may still be beyond her Being a grandparent is great - you can watch and enjoy all their differences, and encourage their aspirations without having the responsibility of trying to make sure they reach their potential Carol |

| I think as time passes more and more of the Coffee gang will post regularly here. DG is not what it used to be, and now being owned by a company who has no interest in us as individuals, the rules and access to free forums may change without notice. Many of us do not feel at home there anymore. I have until fall to decide, but as it looks now, I probably will spend my money on plants or something. Bonnie started the Cubit for us when we were all kind of panicy from the news of the sale. The fear was that IB would open all the private forums to public viewing and we all felt apprehensive about that. Plus, we were upset that the new owners didn't want Dave to be anything other than a member. Such is the corporate world. Back to Bonnie, she had been ill with the flu for several days, and I believe it was the next day that she went to the hospital with full renal failure. She was there about 2 weeks. At this point her kidney function is good, but her Doctor says it may take a year to be back to her old self. Possibly she has forgotten she started this and intended to make it a daily thread, being so ill when she did it. She still posts on the DG Coffee threads. Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. More ramblings at http://thegatheringplacehome.myfastforum.org/forum54.php |

| Read your post Mary, I agree with every word you wrote, mine is up for next month, still have not decided what to do and it has nothing to do with the fees. As long as we have this cubits someone will keep it going but I do miss Bonnie not posting here, even if it is just once in a while. | Maria type [ b ] after post you have to also type [ / b ] but with no spaces in there. You have to type the ending one also where on DG you don't have to. Hope this helps. Cherie the faster I go, the behinder I get |

| Looks like Cherie gave pretty comprehensive instructions for you Maria, to recap [ b ] at the beginning of your post and [ / b ] at the end. (without spaces) As Cherie said, you have to give the ending command where as on DG you do not. I had the best surprise last night. I have been depressed all week. On one hand I was very happy that both of my kids called on mother's day. On the other, I was sad that neither of my step kids called me. I have done so much for them and didn't warrant so much as a phone call. It's been forever since I had seen any of the grand kids and I was just allowing myself to be saddened over it. As you know, Damion does visit once in a while but I have never been "allowed" to watch his younger brother Hayden and I rarely see him. Well, Heather called last night, she was taking her cousin out to supper and a movie for her birthday and Damion was going to one of his great grandmas (he has friends in her neighborhood and wanted to see them) but Hayden kept saying he wanted to go to Grammy's house! She said he was very adamant about saying Grammeeeeee! Of course I said I would love to have him here. I half expected that when they got here he would change his mind when he realized big brother wasn't staying. Instead the opposite happened and Damion wanted to stay here too. We had a great time, played in the play yard, went for a walk and then ate a late supper and watched a movie-Hook. I feel so much better today! At 10:30 I am going to go with my churches garden club to near by Amish green houses. I've never been to any of them but they are suppose to be pretty nice. Now, I am looking for opinions here. I was talking about planting because some of my stuff is outgrowing my greenhouses. Many of you warned about late frost even though today is the "last frost date". I understand that so.....................I looked at the 10 day forecast and the lowest low is "High 40's". ( http://www.weather.com/weather/narrative/53959 ) So any thoughts? Do you think it would be safe to plant veggies--tomatoes, eggplant, cauliflower, broccoli, and peppers? I'll check back tonight after I get back. Sheri |
|

| Hope this works, thanks Cece and Sheri Sheri wish I could help you about when to plant vegetables but we also have May 15th but I never count on it, just a couple of days ago I woke up to 32'. . Makes me happy if you are, just wonder why your step children seem to forget you when they know how much you love their children. Perhaps they think you are just too busy and do not want to add more work to your day. I have been very busy in my gardens especially a couple days ago am still achy from it. Feel I am really getting too old for this. Maria "Those who do not learn from the past are condemned to repeat it" G. Santayana |

| Since our 10 day forecast shows no temps below 45° and that brings us almost into June, I did plant a few things out this weekend. I didn't plant ALL of anything I had though. That way if something doesn't make it, I still have some "back up" plants. Planting, weeding, planting, weeding--that was my weekend. Loved it! |

| Sheri could ask you to do me a favor? Could you pray that everything turns out alright for my oldest daughter? Amber has been having abnormal paps for the past 6, 7 years and once again she has had another. She goes again today for another and the test results will be back by the 26th at which time they will decided whether a hysterectomy or chemo therapy. She has had 5 cryosurgery to burn the cells from her cervix but not an option any longer as there is very little of the cervix left, My heart cries for her as she is only 29 and has only the one child. the faster I go, the behinder I get |
|

| You've got it Cherie! and ((((()))))for you. My step daughter has to have a hysterectomy after this baby is born also. She is only 26 but this is #3 for kids. The last two (#2 & #3) being with her husband so I don't think it's as bad as all that. Oh, and we found out #3 is a girl! |

| Wow its gone quiet!! Its extremely hot here at the moment. Last week we were waking up to frosts and the temp was struggling to reach 40 - yesterday it was 86, today is similar with the added bonus of high humidity!! The contrast is very draining to both people and plants! I'm going to be MIA for a few days. Its the Chelsea Flower Show tomorrow, I bought DH tickets for his Christmas present and as its a 4 hour drive each way we are staying in London. I've had to import family to mind the garden and the dog!! Hopefully both will survive the grand children's attentions. Carol |
|

| It would be a dream come true for me to see the Chelsey flower show, we always missed it when in England. Hope you will take some pictures for us to see. Carol, enjoy yourself. Have you been there before? Maria "Those who do not learn from the past are condemned to repeat it" G. Santayana |

| I was going to post today and ask where everyone was at! I know Cherie is busy in her gardens and hope that is what is keeping Maria too. I know I've been getting stuff in my garden. Friday night I went to Brook's dance recital and Saturday Erica's birthday party. Sunday my parents came up for a visit. Busy weekend. Yes, Carol, do take lots of pictures. |
