I think this might be a light color form of the Southern Banded Water snake but not sure
Can anyone help me, this was found at Washington Oak State Garden, in Florida just south of St Augustine

Thank you, what throw me off is this is a adult over 2 feet and I could never find a picture of one this light. This garden is on a coastal area between the ocean and the intercoastal waterway and it may be a isolated population.

Hementia: Garter snakes are throughout the United States and come even in Canada. The have different markings depending on where they are located.

I could not locate the picture of the snake in question but from your description I would say that it is truly a harmless garter snake. Good for the garden.

Thank you for using our site to learn about your snake.
