This is strictly off the cuff, probably rift with errors, but I was compelled to write it this morning....December 7th.... And although it only took an hour to write, it took two hours to find two photos to accompany it.
Thank you so much for writing this. Too many have forgotten and it pains me to know that. My brother was stationed in HI in the 60s and I can recall my Mom telling me of her trip to the Arizona. And of her tears as she told me... Thank you.....

You've written from the heart and it is a beautiful tribute to our military. If I ever go to Hawaii I will definitely choose the military tour over the civilian one.
Quite sobering I would think, to have bullet marks in your house and know that maybe someone died there as a result.

Thank you Mary, I appreciate that.
I don't think any of us ever thought about someone being shot up there. I guess I prefer to think maybe a teenage boy was sleeping, heard the sounds of gun fire, and dove for the floor! I may have to check now and see if there are archives on base that might tell who lived there during the attack.
Thankyou for this article. I went on the civilian tour to the memorial and it has always been an unfond memory for me. I am so glad to know there is a military tour.
