| Ok, how 'bout a nice SF novel from a few years back? Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |
| Asimov? or Heinlein? I have little confidence in any enterprise or business or investment that promises dividends only after the death of the stockholders. |
| Nah, nah. Copyright is 1985. Post-apocalyptic theme. Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |
| Oh jeez... isn't everything now? Ringo? I have little confidence in any enterprise or business or investment that promises dividends only after the death of the stockholders. |
| The author is an astrophysicist, if that helps. And parts of the book were originally published in a magazine. Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |
| Hawking? I just stared reading these mags this year... Susan? I have little confidence in any enterprise or business or investment that promises dividends only after the death of the stockholders. |
| Ah, another hint. The book was made into a movie in 1998......poorly. Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |
| A bad post apocalyptic film... do you know on principle I don't go see bad films? I'll have to think about this over dinner... I have little confidence in any enterprise or business or investment that promises dividends only after the death of the stockholders. |

| On principle, I don't go see films at all. Isn't that why god created dvds? Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |

| Wait a minute... are you talking about that one w/the earthquake in LA? Or somewhere in CA anyway. Like there was a huge monster underground causing it? I don't even watch bad movies at home.... Help me. There's too many good ones to waste my time on the stinkers. Got the first season of Star Trek this week.... I have little confidence in any enterprise or business or investment that promises dividends only after the death of the stockholders. |

| The Postman by Brin? |
| I've been working a lot outside, trying to get my plants moved out of the greenhouse before they all fry. Woofie, what is SF? Contact, by Sagan? |
| Science Fiction? Porkpal |
| Oh, I vote for Postman... I do remember that was supposed to be a very disappointing movie. Pity, 'cause it was a fine book. Is Contact Sci Fi? I've got to get out & turn a new bed. The sun was blood red this morning for an hour after sunrise, due to the smoke from the AZ fire. Pretty intense! Can't see the mountains 10 miles up the road right now. I have little confidence in any enterprise or business or investment that promises dividends only after the death of the stockholders. |

| Aww, you guys are no fun. Guessed that one way too quickly. Yes, The Postman. It was originally published as a short in Asimov's SF Mag. And, ahem, the proper abbreviation for Science Fiction is SF, NOT Sci Fi. Grumpy purist here. Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |
| I can't believe I guessed one! As soon as I read your first clue, it popped into my head. Jay, are you thinking of Cloverfield? We hated the first 5 minutes but by the end we really liked it. |
| Honestly, I have no idea what I was thinking of. Just your basic stupid disaster film, might even have had the original name of 'Earthquake'. SF is the abbreviation for San Francisco... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sf or you can add periods (s.f.) & then it's something we don't want to hear about... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=s.f. but might explain a thing or two, or you can go the SF AMZ route... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=SF AMZ But in today's world, if you wanna talk about science fiction, then you use sci fi... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sci fi You need to update your software, dear dinosaur. I have little confidence in any enterprise or business or investment that promises dividends only after the death of the stockholders. |

| Tell me again how you pronounce "fiction." Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |

| It ain't gonna work... update or be doomed to hoary old age w/hair growing out your ears. I have little confidence in any enterprise or business or investment that promises dividends only after the death of the stockholders. |
