| Been a busy weekend, Grandbabies from Ohio here for my birthday. Sad news that my 91 year-old surrogate mom passed yesterday- really makes you reflect on having a birthday and how fragile life is. Dot had a good run and a wonderful family and I am blessed that I was included in her brood. Hoping to see Tasha and Abygail for the next weekend, welcome spring. | Thanks everyone - that is the natural order of things, live long and prosper Dot was very fortunate to have her wits about her and a wonderful family full of children, grandchildren, great- and great-great! Tim and Amy came from Ohio and brought 2 of our three grandbabies (Eva just turned 4 and Colton will be one year-old in July) ! | My, my the vacation station is about to go bankrupt, haven't seen any travelers for such a long time. Hope everyone is well and just busy or away having fun. I am back to work, wish I could retire, but still need to put in a bit more time. It was a miserable trip over the mountains this morning, rain and utter darkness. Ugh, is spring around the corner? | Thanks for bringing me back to reality LOL. Now that you mention it I was surprised about Princess. We had a mini suite and there was no turn down service at all, no cute animals, nothing? Guess RCCL is still doing that, but also didn't happen on our Carnival cruise last Christmas? I wonder if they feel the suite is an elite group of people with different preferences or if they have just stopped it all together. Gonna go over to http://www.cruisecritic.com and see if any of those folks have the scoop. I do know RCI has done an evaluation and made big changes as well. For instance they claim they were throwing away most of the mints on the pillow so they eliminated that little gratuity. I'll let you know when I return in December. I must say I will be sadly disappointed if I don't have an elephant sitting on the bed with my sunglasses and a monkey hanging from the drapery rod.  |

We got the mints, but that was it on Princess and Carnival. As I recall RCCL was a higher standard of cruise than Princess and Carnival so perhaps they still do the extras. I recall on RCCL on Sovereign of the Seas they used my "nighties" for making the animals, doubt they still do that as it is likely not admissible to touch a passenger's undies these days.
