For the Love of His HeartBy Becky Capps (Boopaints) on September 26, 2010
|Looking for hearts in the desert, forest, sky, beach and all around planet earth has been a long time obsession for me. Unique heart shaped rocks, clouds, shells and leaves are easy to find when you start looking.|
When I was a little girl I loved to draw hearts with crayons. You'd find me making heart flowers, heart people and valentine style hearts.
As a teenager I used hearts instead of dots for i's and j's. In art class, when I illustrated poems, I'd always find one that had to do with hearts or love so I could paint hearts along with the black ink of my words. As I got older my art style changed but my love of hearts never faded.
And then several years after I became a believer in Jesus, I fell in love with the verse that inspired my ministry of encouraging others by using the word of God along with images:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, aknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight."
This verse has become so ingrained into my soul that when I'm feeling any kind of negativity I'll voice it out loud and it calms me down immediately. God is good like that: He promises us He will make our paths straight if we trust in Him.
As I share this verse at Bible Studies, I encourage women to find a heart to place somewhere in their home that will remind them of this verse. I've also bought small glass hearts that I've placed in several areas of my home, my purse, my car ... often hidden places that are reminders to me when I stumble across them.
A heart is a precious, visual reminder of God's love for me and to trust Him with all my heart.
Over the years I've collected hearts both physically and visually. Yesterday I saw a pile of rocks...a HUGE pile....and one of the rocks was shaped just like a heart. It probably weighed several tons. A Facebook friend sent me this first heart photo which I am crazy about and I found the second one as I Googled one day.
Searching for photos to go with the verse I post each day is something that's really special for me. I recently added a helper, Vicki, to take over posting on cubits.org when I'm going to be away from my computer. She loves being part of this ministry too. Every once in a while, someone will share a great photo with me and then I search for the verse that can accompany it but usually I begin with the verse first.
Sometimes the verse jumps out at me, othertimes I fee a nudging from the Holy Spirit to share a particular verse ... and even with all the people that see these verses, sometimes a verse was meant specifically for an individual. God loves us each so uniquely...it is awe striking! I love receiving messages th at affirm that.
In May of 2010 I was asked to paint at my church as the Pastor shared the message and I was able to use hearts for the theme. Later they auctioned off the 3'x3' paintings and used the proceeds for a youth program. I was really happy that I could use my love for the Lord and my passion for the heart shape together as I painted.
The first heart symbolizes two people sharing God's love; the second shows one of my ways to worship is art; the third symbolizes that sharing your heart brings more people to share theirs and last (which was not completed in this photo) depicts that everyone can be used by God to share the gift of salvation in Jesus.
In 2000 I was selected to create a canvas for Phoenix Children's Hospital. The painting I decided on was a wavy quilt that was 9 feet long. The title is Helping Hearts and Helping Hands and children from a local elementary school gave me the inspiration for the hearts and the hand shapes are their own hands. This was a wonderful way once again to share my passion of paint and hearts.
God has presented opportunities for me to share my heart in multitudes of ways: painting, teaching the Bible, encouraging other Christians, creating cards and altered books. Someday I hope to travel the USA, sharing painted hearts in all 50 states. Amazingly, God has taken a childhood love and refined it into something that brings Him glory.
I see teenagers making hearts with their hands in photos on facebook....I think the heart is one of the most universal signs of love and what a fun way to celebrate our love for God than grabbing hold of this heart-shaped hand greeting!
"Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." Deuteronomy 6:5
"For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." John 12:34
May God bless your heart and your love for Him!
When I write this, I mean it with all of my heart: to God be the glory!
This isn't about me, it's about the way He uses me to encourage others.
It's about His heart and how He loves us so much.

|Over the past eight years, I've learned that the things that seem so important are fleeting and to trust God completely with my life is what really brings me joy, peace and contentment. I love bringing the written word and images together as a way of reminding us all to lean on God and not ourselves. My favorite verses are Proverbs 3: 5-6, Jeremiah 29:11 and Matthew 6: 25-27.|
"Christ followers shouldn't be stuffy, boring or rude . . . but purposefully embrace life and live like Jesus did: with joy, love and compassion".
