I was hoping beginning artist would be interested in this site but I guess not. Any way here is one of my latest efforts. This is the BP oil fire that caused so much devastation in our area. Please post what you are doing in art or ceramics. I am very interested in what you are doing. I study on the internet and get pointers from Sharon Brown.![]() shirleyt wanna be artist bad visit me at Beginners At ART [url=http://cubits.orgshirleytBeginnersAtArt] shirleyt Beginners At Art |

| You really captured that fire, those flames, Shirley! Wow. That's hard to do. I like the balance in the composition, too. Good job, and with the complementary colors, it has a strong impact. (Blue and orange) I'm working on a couple right now, too. Will show you when I get my camera out later today. Keep painting!! |

| Sharon...I know I have been away for too long but I have been caring for two girls. Sandy had double knee replacement in December. It has been a long hard time. Trips to hospital, care at home then the rehab three times a week for several months. We are thirty miles one way and I needed to drive her. That did not leave much time for art. Things are better now. She is back at work. Alyssa is doing fine working hard. I did a Moroccan sunset for GS Kelly and his brother Kris wanted the oil well fire. Kelly swooped his painting up before I remembered to take a picture. It turned out well. I did not think I could do the fire. I want to put some light in the middle of the fire but I am afraid to touch it. No confidence that I will not just mess it up. I find that is my big problem I want to stop to quickly and my work is too plain. When I get something looking halfway decent I do not want to go any farther with it. I am going to start painting the same pics three times in hopes of improving. Alyssa is wanting me to paint her a purple Iris for her bedroom. I am going to try that next. Thanks for your interest . Have a great day. Summer is almost over and we are all going to be screaming for Spring lol. shirley shirleyt wanna be artist bad visit me at Beginners At ART [url=http://cubits.orgshirleytBeginnersAtArt] shirleyt Beginners At Art |

| Oooops...you've had a tough time. I'm glad things seem to be better now. The more you paint the more confident you'll become. Just keep at it. Once dry, you can always paint over something you don't like. You will be fine. Everybody feels like this at the beginning! Cooler here too, but still very very dry. I wish fall would bring us some rain. |

Here is the pic I was working from which shows the strong blues of the Gulf and the fire colors. I was afraid to try to put in the other boat. I am still thinking about doing it, and adding some lighter yellow to the fire. Would love to see what you are working on. shirleyt![]() shirleyt wanna be artist bad visit me at Beginners At ART [url=http://cubits.orgshirleytBeginnersAtArt] shirleyt Beginners At Art |

| Add some white then light yellow then regular yellow to the center of the flames. The hottest area in a flame like that is white, then where it is not as hot it goes into the colors. I think blue hot is the very hottest, but rarely can we see the blue. It's a very good painting. Difficult, too. I'll try to remember to get some photos to show you but I haven't had time to work on any of it this last week. Maybe this next week will be better. |
