follow the directions using a chair, or simply place hands on your hips while bending backwards

Advanced Alternative
place hands flat on the soles of your feet or on the floor beyond your feet

Benefits: stretches the entire front side of your body and strengthens the back muscles

Cautions: do not do if you have low back or neck injury, or if you have headaches or high or low blood pressure

Note the top photo: Chest is lifted nicely but the chin should be tucked a little...this is hard on the neck having the head back so far.
