I have been working on this doll house off and on for a year now. (Mainly off! Sad ) I decided to pull it off the shelf today and start working on it again. I just finished painting the exterior with the first coat of paint. Hopefully will get to start wallpapering the inside tomorrow. This is the Greenleaf "storybook cottage' dollhouse kit. Here's a pix of how far I got with todays work.Thumb of 2010-12-14/1AnjL/ec3104

Here's the interior so far. Floors are painted, next step is the wallpaper, then interior trim Thumb of 2010-12-14/1AnjL/dd5cb9

I also recently purchased a hanging doll house 'front' this hangs on the wall and doors dont open.

side view, these are only about 1 1/2 inches wide. Thumb of 2010-12-14/1AnjL/d7f5ca

and my greatest find! DH and I went to an antique store this past weekend, although this piece is not antique, it was too cute to pass up for $5 Hilarious! It will go in the upstairs 'nursery' of the dollhouse once I get the wallpapering done. Thumb of 2010-12-14/1AnjL/7d7e7f

It would have been much easier... If I had read the directions *Blush*

I'm really kicking myself now for jumping the gun on this one Hilarious! Hilarious! The top floor wallpaper is almost done, now for the lower (and more difficult) floor. ..

I'm already designing my next house which will be built from scratch and not a kit. On that one I will definitely paint and paper it before assembling! Hilarious!

Most of the house is done now! Hurray! Hurray! I just have to stain the roof shingles and apply them, and find the itty bitty hinges I bought for the front door. Then its all decorating time! Hurray!

Wallpaper on both floors completed. Just a side note.... I used regular ole glue stick to apply the wall paper and it worked! well, at least it worked for now Hilarious! I'm hopin it doesnt fall off the walls later Whistling and mark my words.. I will NEVER wallpaper AFTER its built again! Getting around in those tight corners was a huge pain! Hilarious!

I am still planning on making REAL hardwood flooring for the interior, and I'd like to do something else with the front porch floor....maybe stone? Not sure yet. Thumb of 2010-12-19/1AnjL/a6d957

So You know they make little bricks and mortar? Somewhere around here I have some. But you could also make bricks or rocks with Polymer clay and put it on.

Anjl - Your cottage looks awesome! Seriously! I should have picked a much smaller dollhouse to build. It wouldn't take me my entire life to finish if I had! LOL! Charleen is right ... they do make mini bricks. I know ... because I have a sheet of mini bricks for my dollhouse!

Thanks Becky. I'm actually looking forward to building a bigger house now lol! I did learn a lot building this lil one. #1 lesson was, wallpaper before you put the trim in place Rolling on the floor laughing Im hoping that DH is getting me the Magnolia kit for christmas Whistling

I finished the house with the exception of staining the roof shingles. I've got them all glued into place now. Big Grin
