Carol: Thank you for sharing this interview with Mr. Green, what an interesting life he has led! Great photo of Ted & his lovely wife Dorothy! I don't know anything about Christine Burton but when I began learning about Hoya's after joining Dave's Garden in 2006, I began googling for information and came across a website where she was posting, I think I learned later that it was her website. She struck me as being a very negative and spiteful person with her ranting. My first impression of someone, whether in person, on the telephone or on-line, usually sticks. The negativity was not worth my time and it was a website I had no desire to get involved with. I got the impression from her writing that she thought she was the only expert when it came to Hoya's and that no one better question her about any Hoya. My only conclusion to her on-line ranting was that she must be a very unhappy person in real life. In a way, it sounded to me like she was trying to convince herself that she was the only expert when it came to these plants. She may be a very knowledgeable and cordial person in the real world but this was just my own personal interpretation/opinion after reading her writing's on the internet. Thank you Mr. Green for the list of the 6 recommended Hoya's for the hobbyist like me, I have three out of those six listed, and might just have to add the other three to my collection ... or at least the H. subcalva that I've heard has a bloom that smells like grape juice!! Carol, thanks for sharing your interview with Mr. Green, l know we all look forward to learning more about these lovely and interesting plants called Hoya's! Lin |
