...or whatever number she put on it. Actually, Ms. Burton has simply added some more nastiness and I wish to set the record straight.

She states that a "Wannabe Hoya Expert" or something like that, villified David Liddle on Daves Garden. As with most of her stories, I know that person is me...but I am not a Wannabe anything, and certainly am not and I do not want to be a hoya expert. I grow hoyas (as well as other tropicals) and I am interested in them. No one can be an expert, not even her, on any genus without years of formal education, collecting, etc. Ted Green doesn't call himself an expert... David Liddle certainly didn't call himself an expert. I suspect that the only reason she does not name me in her diatribes is because she fears I will sue her. As she says, one cannot get water out of a rock and I have no desire to sue her. But I will defend myself and my friends.

My comments (along with Joni's ) were with reference to an order Joni had placed with David Liddle which went wrong. HOW DARE Ms. Burton conjecture as to why I called David about the order. HOW DARE she purport to know the nature or the result of the telephone call and even why it was made.

I made a statement ON MY WEBSITE and other places (NOT on Daves Garden) that when I close down selling hoyas I CAN suggest two good hoya dealers: Ted Green and Joni Kahn from SRQ Hoyas. I suggest that if I don't have a certain hoya they may be able to sell it. I never....NO ONE ever suggested these two sellers en lieu of David Liddle. David also told ME that unless I kept my IML#s in order "....you could paint yourself into a corner." David NEVER spoke ill of anyone. He was extremely good about keeping his fences mended and not ruffling feathers.

Previously I considered Christine Burton simply a nasty old lady who hadn't enough to do so she took pot shots at people she didn't like. Her constant stories about Ted Green and Dale Kloppenberg have become SO boring. Previously there was some truth in them (as to dates, locations etc.) but now she just makes up whatever she wants to and runs the record again.

Please remember: no one in any field is 100% correct all of the time (and I will bet you $$$ to dogpoop there is no one in any other field of horticulture/taxonomy as illspirited and nasty as some jealous old hasbeen who has run out of friends to push around.

Ms. Burton could be SUCH a help, such a boon to all of us collecting and growing hoyas. It is a pity she has taken the path of villification towards anyone who dares speak out and offer to help others starting to grow. And it is especially a pity she continues to paint anyone David Liddle was friends with as unworthy of his friendship.

Jealousy is a debilitating sickness. Big Grin

I am so sorry you are targets of such ill will. I think that anyone with any kind of information on hoya's or other plants for that matter would want to contribute whatever it is they know. I know that if something you have given was with the wrong id, you are quite to say sorry and fix it with the right plant. shit happens, and there is not a single person that is perfect. I value your opinions and suggestions of what to do to maybe fix a problem with a plant/cutting.

I wish you the best of everything and hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Thanks Dee....and a Happy Holidays to you and yours....

As Ms. Burton enjoys the pleasure of being able to take pot shots at people and not allow them to defend themselves...someone needs to do it. She has been vilefying people all of her life...and I, for one, think it is disgusting!!!

Aloha Hoya

I have been collecting, studying and selling hoyas for about 10 years. This Cubit is about growing hoyas, and about the hoyas I have to sell. I welcome any and all hoya lovers, whether you want to buy or not. Hooked on Hoyas is another great Hoya sight
