I normally stick a cutting like that into a pot of potting mix, water it thoroughly and put a hat on it - I have these clear plastic domes with a hole at the top (when lazy, I'll water it through that hole). Mist when you can, once or twice at day would be ideal. Keep it out of high heat anddirect sun. I am a "root worrier" so I don't tip the plant out to look at the roots, I just think that 6-8 weeks with that type of care should have been produced by then, so I take the hat off around then and put it back into the general population. I didn't remove any leaves, just made sure it was planted low enough in the pot to produce a good amount of roots. The leaves can be taken out later or left in the pot for 'mulch'.

That's what I did to the last cutting from a hoya compacta that I got from my daughter's plant, originally from my dead compacta of course, and its now putting on new growth.

Aloha Hoya

I have been collecting, studying and selling hoyas for about 10 years. This Cubit is about growing hoyas, and about the hoyas I have to sell. I welcome any and all hoya lovers, whether you want to buy or not. Hooked on Hoyas is another great Hoya sight
