It's all about choices.
Thru the years there has been a great deal of hype around different growing products: VF-11, MSU Fertilizers, SuperThrive...etc. I was always curious about SuperThrive...and thought it was simply a rooting hormone...sort of stopped using it after my business got smaller and I wasn't ordering a lot of plants from Liddle, etc... But in my investigations around why some cuttings root better/faster than others has brought me back to SuperThrive. Plant propagation is quite complicated as far as the plant systems involved...and its success is very much predicated upon the hormone levels in the growing tips of the plant/vine. These hormones are dependent upon the levels of Vit. B (yes, in the plant) which supports growth....and when plants are cut on frequently both the hormone and Vit. B levels can be compromised.

In the past, I've used ST in warm water to soak cuttings in after their long trip from Australia, Sweden etc., and I also used it to water the cuttings while their roots are forming.

I bought a bottle of SuperThrive for the first time in nearly 8 years and am going to add it to my watering program. A little goes a very long way...and while my plants are very healthy, it can't hurt Whistling - and could very well help!

In fact, I have two smallish H. australis plants I am going to experiment with....and I may add a couple more 'pairs' for this experiment: watering one plant with ST and the other NOT and then taking cuttings and measuring the rooting speed and health of the cuttings, as well as the growth of the two plants.

Leap. The net will appear.
