That's a heck of a pony! LOL What I love about my own pony picture is that I remember that day; I don't have too many clear memories of my childhood. It's amazing how long the practice lasted, too, since my mom's photo would have been taken in the early 1920's.

You're so right. I remember when I was 4 or 5 and a guy came around our neighborhood with his pony. Mom had my photo taken then. Evidently Connie and Diana were at school because I don't remember them having a pony photo.
Can you imagine how long it took back in the 1920's for that photo to be taken? That's a long time to hold a smile.
My Great grandmother Elise Mary Diacon Ash with my Uncles Bill and Delmer, Aunt Leorie Leishman and my Grandfather Clarence Leishman. I believe this was taken at the Jason Ash homestead near Lakeside NE.
This isn't a pony either, but a horse that looks like he's really bored with all these kids on-board.
My Mom, Lilah Lorraine Gillis is in front, then her cousin Billie Young, brother Ray, older girl is unknown to me, and brother Ted. Mom and Billie were born in 1917. This photo was taken on the John Thomas Gillis homestead in the Adelaide District of Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, California. The Gillis children's parents were John Thomas and Irene Estelle (Young) Gillis.
No, not a Yates. My DH's step-father was the Yates and his ancestors came from New York. Being a family genealogist, I looked up your name and decided that there was probably no relationship in the US, maybe in the UK at one time, where I am sure their family came from originally.
