|I use Ancestry.com a lot. And I hate it just as much as I like it.
I've been working on my family genealogy off and on for over 30 years, and certainly having all the information Ancestry and other online sources supply is a huge benefit.
Most of my early research (1970's) was by snail mail, and now I have progressed to the point that there are few if any really old records online, and any that might exist will need personal visits to courthouses, cemeteries, etc. Very costly.
I hate the wait time when working on Ancestry. You'd think that their Church could afford enough servers to not bog down during peak traffic. I also hate that folks just copy stuff into their trees without much thought to the reality... like adding a man who had 7 children 30 years after he died.
But the comments about genealogy here are spot on... it is very addictive!
